    Default Need an opinion

I always appreciate everyone's help. I have been going back and forth on he's the last few weeks. I guess I have more time to think about gear than playing it.

My question: Do I want to trade my HRDx for one of the new Jet City 20 watt amps?

I bought the Fender for the clean. I play clean maybe 10 of the time. Since I've bought the HRDx I have bought an sold pedals looking for a dirty sound. Does this mean I should have bought something else to begin with?

Other options: always wanted a peavey 5150.

Thoughts? Is the Jet City crap? GC is 2 hours away. Won't go unless I plan to do something.

I'd keep searching for the right pedals, cause you won't have the clean headroom with a JC amp.

    Do you gig at all?

If you only play clean 10% of the time, then get an amp with a killer OD. An Amps natural distortion is always going trump distortion from pedals IMO. Sacrafice on clean if you have to. FInd a useable clean.

Don't know what your budget is but look for a used JSX. 5150 are good for what they are. DSL?

Never gig. Record and give stuff to friends an family. We use Roland v drums so volume not important. I'm headed to GC today to try stuff out.

I sold my JCA212RC. I grew to not caring for the way it sounded, but that's just my personal preference. Don't get me wrong, it was a good amp and all, but I think it was more setup for a classic style rock than the heavy groove orientated crap that I play.

What type of gain are you looking to get? I loved the Plexitone pedal by Carl Martin, it truly was (for me anyway) a cranked Plexi in a pedal. Hard to go wrong with anything by Carl Martin. I like the Wampler Pinnacle as well, never played one though but the clips on YouTube sound great.

I would say that's spot on. The JC amps have a saggy bass and squishy feel that wouldn't be much fun for really tight riffing, but rule for Zep and Allmans, classic rock stuff like that.

I play Tool on my JCA20.

    Just a booster out front.
