Default "Behind The Music" Is Awesome Now

If all you listen to is rap!!

Geez, what in the hell happened to this show? I used to get excited whenever I heard a new episode of it was coming on. Now, everytime I see there's a new episode, it's about some damn rapper that really hasn't been out all that long really. Game, Pittbull, T-Pain, Nas, Little Wayne, etc...... Seriously, WTF? Have these people really contributed that much to modern music that they're worthy of already having a Behind The Music about them? I don't really have a problem with it per se, but it just seems odd to me. I would think that they might be worthy of having one in maybe another 10 years or so. I can think of plenty of rock bands, R&B singers, and other contemporary artists that are worthy of having one right now.

I just don't get it. I don't know, maybe I'm just getting old and out of touch.

Now, GET OFF MY DAMN LAWN!!!!!!

    Hahaha!
And I find it offensive to the long list of great bands with an intriguing backstory but no BTM episode.

I KNOW its just commerce, playing for a demographic. But a few BTMs were ludicrous! Like Foreigner, which should have been "Behind the Sellout",

and the Huey Lewis one- the story of an ordinary hard working bar band that for seem reason didnt have overnight success, got popular with a batch of original songs, then TRAGEDY STRUCK when H&tN faded away from the gaze of an uncaring buying public... Will they rise again with a triumphant comeback?

But rap careers are of course, more about production, promotion and image: i don't mind saying the most gifted rappers may go unnoticed- its just business whoyaknow... So whats the POINT of a BTM?!,..." when at a party he met ---- who said 'Come On Down to the Studio'".. Tragedy struck when he lost cel no..., but thru a chance drug deal the very next week...

The Motley Crue is the BEST BTM ever! Nothing will ever top that episode.

Just watched. I had never seen that show. I'm a big Crue fan, and knew most of the stories in that show, but that was still a wild episode. Right on.

They should call it Behind a Ho or Behind the Sequencer.

VH1 Classics runs the Rock ones with updates.

I contributed some material to and got a credit on the Ted Nugent BTM. I contributed an original 1976 concert ad they show and a couple photos from '82.
Aint no pro but I know what I like....
    Guitar to sound output:
Hamer, Dean, or Various, Levy's straps, Dunlop straplock/picks, Daddarrio strings 10-46, Duncan, Dimarzio, Mogami, Monster, MojoDrive pedal on occasion, Marshall, Crate, Vox, Mesa Boogie, Black Shadow Celestions, Eminence,..

Agreed. I don't follow rap, but I know who the new faces/names are, and cannot fathom why they deserve a BTM episode.

I can't tell BET from VH1 these days.

VH1Classics (higher up on the dial) shows all the "good" episodes i.e. not the latest rapper. Granted they don't really do too many new acts.

Might start a letter-writing campaign to do BTMs on new Metal acts.

So they've already worked their way through the older rap acts most obviously deserving of a BTM, and now they're abandoning the heart of the original concept so they can include acts that are just now becoming popular. That's like making one about Motley Crue in 1985, or about Ozzy while he was still in Sabbath.

hmmm... I need a little help to interpret the analogy here, WAIT, i just got it! You're saying it's too early in their career to create a bona fide BTM, it would just be riding the bandwagon of a hot-this-morning group. Like a Britney biographical book in 1999.

[i was confuzd; For me, Crue jumpd da shark in 85, ...& Ozzy too. Really, everyone did unless you love keyboards, reverbs, pink lace & lame lame trenchcoats (pro- nouced layme luhmay)]

No complaints, you did good, Im just tooo close to how much drama was packed in up to that point in your specific examplez :and metaldork enuff to care.
***Bottom line, your insight was dead on. ***
See it especially in bookstores: The Biography of the Guy on Last nights news. The Memoirs of a Gal who just got Famous. "Ive always been a believer in talent, luck, & a good publicist..."
BTM AND the other one... DRIVEN, went from quality doc to infomercial of buzz brand.
