Didn't have that problem. Mine were mid heavy with top end sizzle. It was the overall character that I don't like.

I'm pretty much a humbucker and darker single coil person. And I couldn't be bothered spending time trying to swap magnets trying to fiddle out a better tone. Either it works on the first try, or I go somewhere else that i know works for me. ****ing around with the itty bitty parts on my guitars keeps me from playing them.

P90's are about the least mid-scooped sounding single coil pickups I can possibly think of. They are basically nothing but midrange. That's why I like them.

I have no idea where/how you fat fingered ham fisted oafs play. I can play a triple bucker with absolutely no difficulty.

Obviously a bunch of hacks. They sexy is wasted on you!

It's not the hand size, it's the pick. There's hardly any room for it. If you use more than 1mm of the tip, you're hitting the middle HB.

Of course, not as much midrange as most HB's.

I disagree if comparing them to low-powered/PAF-style humbuckers. Heavily wound humbuckers...sure. My 500T when it was stock gave P90's a run for their money in the prominent midrange department. But PAFs/low-output HBs are usually quite mid-scooped IME.

Had to go with 2 HB - I like p90s better in Juniors and Specials than in a full-blown LP. Have to agree with others about 3 HB: Love the look and sound, but middle pickup get in the way.

I used to have a 2 pup 57 Black Beauty that I wish I'd never sold. I currently have a 3 pup 57 Black Beauty that I think is the best looking of the 3. Even better if it has a Bigsby, just because of all that gold.

If I had to choose one as a main player, I'd go for another 2 pup non 57, which means it'd have a maple top, not solid mahogany.

And that's not to say I don't like the 54. I'd love to have one of those too! Duh....more is better!

After owning a custom shop Gibson SG Custom, I HATE 3 humbucker guitars. Having owned my fair share of P90 equipped guitars, I sold 'em all due to noise, so the 2 HB LPC looks the best and works the best for me.

I like them with 3 pickups, that's why I got my Epi Black Beauty like that. Steve Clark's influence!

I seriously want that black beauty with the bigsby. It is the reason why three pickups win.

Give into it! Refinish your Les Paul to ebony, dye the fretboard black, all gold hardware, 3 pickups, and then put in the bigbsy. It is what I plan to do.

It's already an Ebony '57 R.I with a really black Ebony board and the gold is ageing nicely... just the Bigsby required!
