Neck is gorgeous!! not a fan of the ashtray tho
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

I had an early '90's CS Strat that looked just like it, except it had chrome hardware. It had the most pimply, amazing birdseye neck I've ever seen. I sold it a few years ago for $1,250 with case, on E-Bay. It was in killer condition except for one small ding. I'd say this guitar is dreadfully overpriced.

The Strat ashtray is the ****! Second only to the P-Bass ones.

I preferr Alder tons more on vintage Starts. On Reissues like this , I think Ash might actually sound more true to vintage.

I like the ashtray, and hate the neck..from a looks standpoint.

For me, a strat and tele shouldnt be that garish with fancy wood. Its all about dupont colors, blue collar assembly line guitars, made for utility, not to please the corksniffer in us.

but I think you misunderstand. teh way the master craftsmen made guitars back in the day of vintage guitars was what they are trying to approximate now.
It wasnt 'blueblood-upper crust high class' by any means at the time, and yet, it was 'la creme de la creme' just by the level of craftsmanship, and what you have to call 'Corksniffing' today if you want to try and make a guitar that resembles in any form or manner the builds of those age old master luthiers , the skill of which, by and large, has been lost forever.
Soem fools think a reissue custom shop vintage replica Strat ( OR amp) sounds half as good as a vintage Strat ( or amp)- trust me..it doesnt ( they don't).Nevr will. A FAR cry..its so sickly off the mark for les pauls, Amps, Strats that I dont even want to go there casue of lots pf people who try and make replicas or people who think they ahve good sounding guitars past 1977 or so..

I think you have no idea just what Leo Fender was all about.

I'm sure it's an amazing Strat, but the birdseye is so nuts it kind of bugs me.
