Default Bridge hb instead of JB jr?

Greetings from Sweden! New member but have been hanging here from time to time. I have Roadworn strat with Texas Specials neck and middle, and a JB jr in the bridge. I don't agree with the JB, it's somewhat thin and very harsh or hard sounding in the high middle, the Texas Specials sound very good in my amp,(Blackstar HT60 Stage), but the Jb really hurt my ears, I'd like a sound that's softer and warmer, and mayne more even across the eq- spectrum. been thinking about a Dimarzio Tone Zone, but I'm not sure I need a high gain pu? My guess is a full size hb,(guitar is routed for that), would sound fuller. Any suggestions?

Could try a little 59 in there, or a Hot Rails I guess.

If you go for a full size HB in there then the sky's the limit really. PG is really nice in the bridge on a Strat.

Tone Zone S would be cool. TZ is awesome in alder, big and fat without getting muddy. Awesome harmonics too. Don't want so much output, lower the pickup a bit.

You wouldn't happen to be interested in a Dimarzio Evolution?
I'm also located in Sweden, so I can send it your way for 500SEK shipping included

No, but thanks for the offer! Managed to get rid of the harshness today by changing pu height, got a lot bassier when I raised it! I think I need something with lower output though...Thanks for suggestions!

Your Texas specials are vintage w/bite, so I would suggest a vintage pup w/bite. That would be the 59/cust. hybrid. Great sounding pup in a Strat. I did mag swap to UOA5 in mine. A bit softer than the A5 it comes with.

If you don't want to route the guitar for a full sized bucker, the DiMarzio raid pups sound like full sized pups, IMO none of the Duncans do since they seem to be missing something in the lows/low mids.

Order of Hot from slight overwound PAF to smokin, try:

    Chopper
    Pro Track
Fast Track 2 or the Billy Corgan sig model.

Thanks, but it is routed for hb in bridge. Bc2 seems interesting, very full sounding from what I've heard!

If you're Strat has 250k pots, there's no way the JB is harsh.
    Try lowering it.
you'd be surprised how much the height affects the tone.
As Kinman says, the height screws really are your friend.

Yeah, but I actually found it less trebly when raising the pu very close to the strings, a lot betterr!

The C/59 with UOA5 is your best bet.

Obvious question. What pickup cavity routing pattern does the OP guitar have? SSS, HSS, HSH, one-size-fits-all rectangle?

If you like Texas Specials, the Tex-Mex humbucker might suit. My other suggestion is the Brobucker. (Expensive but worth it.)

If it is already humbucker routed,

Finally installed new pus, SD Alnico2 Pro sc in neck, and aDM Super Distortion in bridge, wow, what a difference, no more shrillness and ice pick, just fantastic tone!
    Thanks for input!
