I remember originally thinking Duncan pickups WERE matte finished as I recalled the first time I played a Kramer Baretta in '84 or '85 and it had the nice matte finish (even nicer IMO than Dimarzio's matte finish) and I always assumed it was a Duncan JB as that was what they were advertised as having back then in magazines. I guess the earlier ones had Schaller pickups and so there is another option with Schaller pickups. Too bad they never became reknowned for their pickups as they did with their Floyd Rose, bridges and tuners.
This picture shows the texture which is nice and I have never seen another pickup that uses a similar textured plastic like this. I wish Duncan and Dimarzio had this finish as I find it superior in looks and wear to either of them.
