Default Ngd.... Help me make it beast

I just picked up a super nice 2000 Gibson gothic explorer. I want to make it my metal beast. (Metallica, megadeth, bullet for my valentine...etc) help me decide on some pups. It's currently all stock. I have a ec 1000 with the jb/59 set up so I'm looking for something a bit different from that.

I have 2 AHB-1 bridge pickups in my LTD M-50, my 'heavy metal, distortion' guitar, and it sounds awesome. The bridge pup in the neck is great (for me), it has the same sound (obviously) but it's SLIGHTLY warmer. If I want a nice clean tone, it's there, but that guitar see's very little clean time. They will deffinately do Metallica, Megadeth and BFMV.

That is a toss up. The actives sound the closes to the Metallica/ Megadeth stuff (because they use them) but I think my passive Super Distortions sound the best when I'm metal-doodling. Go to a guitar store and play them side by side if you can.

I've never cared for emg actives nor did I like the live wires so it's looking very passive for me. Would the distortion/ jazz be a good balance together?

Honestly, go full out Distortion Mayhem set. I've got a renewed respect for the Distortion neck, and if you want beastly, nothing does it quite like the Distortion. My personal favorite is the Custom wind (or Crazy 8, but I think we're talking regular production). Especially if you're downtuning, I don't think anything works for metal like the Distortion.

That's what I did with my Super Distortions. If it weren't for the battery box I'd swap the AHB-1's in the LTD for the Super's.
