Very good, my man. Makes you wonder why they're so stubborn to hang on to something that can be so easily improved, and boost sales. Why don't they listen to players and fix what they don't like?

Lemmy, and Geddy Lee (up to and including the "Moving Pictures" tour) are two I can think of off the top of my head.

Glen Hughes, and Roger Glover both rocked Rics for a while before going P bass.

Looks to me like a Ric can solo pretty well.

Why does everyone hate ricks and think they are ugly??? Ugly guitars include most 80s monstrosities like the Steinberger and things that look like people accidently sawed off parts that didnt mean to. Sure the necks are narrow but its like saying its hard to play lead on a 12 strings acoustic. If you want to play lead easily get some shreddy beast that I actually find way harder to play (like a 7 string ibanez for example) which i can barely get my hand around and cant easily play my jangly pop johnny marr style chords and of course sound **** on an ibby.
But if you play indie pop stuff Rics looks great, sound great and are easily playable.

Plus seeming this is about the bass. I don't think there is a bass that is more sexy or sound cooler then a 4003. Most basses (outside of leo's creations, the gibson bass and a few others) are disgustingly ugly.

Guitars, the neck is too narrow and kinda "agricultural".
Big +1. My late uncle always had a Rick bass of some kind at any given point, and they played great! Loved them. Guitars on the other hand? A little weird. But that thing is a looker!

Rickenbackers can really rock, as the greatest band ever (R.E.M.) shows here...

Cliff Burton brought the thunder with a Ric bass.. And one of our forum bros (everdrone ,I think..) has some killer tone on a Ric bass. I love the bass tones, but the guitars and the quirks and the looks all drive me away . Even if they were a fraction of the price.

About those Italia guitars... Some neat quirks and features on some of them... I like the guitar shaped trem cavity cover:

Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

I've heard the whole clip, being the "solo" at about 1:36.

Taking that as an example, seems that your definition of "Rickenbackers can really rock" and the very concept of what "Rock" might be, is certainly quite different from mine and everybody else's, I would think...

I didn't realize that you were the ambassador of rock music, but thanks for the clarification.
