    Default New Amp?

Hey im looking to get a larger amp now that i have a band going... i was looking at the Line 6s, my current amp is a little 30 watt marshall... I love the marshall. But i also like the Line 6s i have tried out... Any recommendations... I play with distortion, not too much though.
    Thanks

The Line6 Vetta head is really nice if you got the money. My friend has a Line6 Spider 2 head and cab. its inexpensive and it does the job well...For the money its great.

I think that for the money the Line 6 amps are pretty good...what kind of money do you have to spend?

You may wanna try searching for a used tube head in that price range. You can probably score a $500-600 head for $300 + shipping ...
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!

If you want a Line 6, thats cool...but if I were you I would get the best tube amp I could afford (look hard, there are some real bargins aout there) and maybe a good pedal for a crunch if the amp is not channel switching...infact what i would do is save my money until I could get a Fender bassman, and a good 2x12 cab and then get yourself a DS-1 and get it modded...that would be enough amp for the next several years...trust me on that.

Here is a 4x12 Bassman combo...this would do nicely

you get the idea...that is what I would do...bassman or not get the best thing you can afford, shoot for tubes...hope this helps

i kinda wondered the same thing...btw, if you wanted to wait until you had about 500 bones it really gives you a lot more options for used tube combos

thanks bro...I look at it like this...a good SF bassman head will run you about 300-375 (although the last one I bought I got for 275!), and good 2x12 cab will run you 300...but you can doo better if you look hard, then get a DS-1 get john to do a number on it and you in for a total of let's $650.00 and thats a rig that I would play through for years to come...it's hard to beat a rig like that!

I would say that if you are looking at an amp in the $300-$400 range, A Tech 21 is hard to beat!!! Very hard to beat!! Here are a few,

the Tech 21 stuff is great...kinda like modelsing but not full on like the Line 6 stuff...with a Tech 21 there are 3 "preset sounds"...one clean one crunchy and one real nasty...all 3 are pretty damn good and theodie is right...for the money you'll be hard pressed to find something else that good!

I played through a Tech 21 trademark 10 and I would have to say that I was very impressed with the sounds I got out of that little amp. Sounded really good.

Archie Bunker says, just buy one already!!!

+1 or you can try and get a classic 50 or something But I would think 30 watts would be enough for band practice. I know my 50 watts is overkill at my practices, but if you are going to be gigging in the near future then I can see the need for more wattage.

Yeah im liking it i see why you compare it to the line 6... but i like this more, line 6 just seems alittle too ehh funky and roboty... its suitable that slipknot endorses it. But this is great... not to find one to try out

I do not know why I didn't think of this before but if you're on a budget look into Sovtek amps! These are KILLER and cose very very little...they had a 50 watt single 12 combo called a Mig 50...killer amp they go for less than 500 clams most of the time! A sovtek head can be had for around 350 clams then all you need is a good 2x12 box...that would still be more that your 300-400 budget right now but they really are good amps!
