Yeah they are opposing. Its a cool pickup but strangely enough I think I preferred those mags in a 59b/aph2 n hybrid. Sounds like it wouldn't work but it does.

Blackout Metal pups ..their power and output is mind boggling, they're super punchy & tight (but not even vaguely clinical) for rhythm, with lots of screaming harmonic overtones for solo's...

    Also Tesla Plasma II's

The CNC machines don't care what country they happen to be residing in..

    interesting!
what i mean is, looking at it side-on:
the overall length of invader magnets with SH-12 demon poles (+ keeper bars) sandwiched between:
    []|[ ]|[]

was too long to fit on the SH-12 baseplate:
    \....../

so the mags/bobbins sat on top of the lips of the sides of the baseplate, something like this:
    []|[ ]|[]
    \....../

the invader i have definitely has different bobbins and pole spacing to both SH- and TB- duncans; from eyeballing them side-by-side i assumed it was the same spacing as a gibson bridge pickup.

apologies for the partial thread hijack. it's kinda relevant?

The D-AX neck is probably my favorite neck pup for metal.
To be fair, I use a Treble Booster in my chain.
Try that on for size. It'll change your life.

Without one I can totally see it being muddy.
And agreed. The neck D-AX is far more vocal than the bridge.

That's weird man, my Invader and the other one I recently worked on are both straight up just normal SH baseplates. The Invader bobbins are just SH slug bobbins with big fat cap screws in them. The cap screws are the same diameter as slugs and the same width as the keeper bar from the screw coil, so it all still fits perfectly.

Maybe you have a Detonator? The Deto is Gibbo bridge spaced.

You did take out the spacer, right? That could be the problem too, I guess.

^ i'm thinking it's an older SH-8 as it had the awesome "BJ" sticker
it's definitely not a newer model; i'll look into this.
    thanks for the info man!

I will admit that I do prefer my TB-6 Distortion to my EMG-81 18 volt, but part of that is also the TB-6 is in a USA made NT Warlock while the EMG is in a bolt-on Virgin. The body wood difference is noticable even unplugged...

And yeah, since we're talking about brutal pickups, PATB-2 Parallel Axis Distortion... that thing is beastly. I bet it'd play nicely in a set neck guitar (or not so nicely)!

In regards to Invader mags fitting or not; when I put them on an SH baseplate they fit fine. When I put them in a TB Baseplate I had to file the sides of the baseplate a bit to get them in and it's still extremely tight. Both Pickups were double screw configuration.

Weird. I have a trembucker now, but no spacer mags to try in it, i gave them all away. I wonder if the TB bobbins are wider but skinnier lengthwise, I guess that would make sense.
