New amp day! Finally!

Well, about a month or two ago I bought an Orange Tiny Terror because I just wanted a tube amp and the price seemed right.
So I take this Orange home and play it and while it sounded pretty good, the lack of an EQ was killing me. It was hard to do my cleans and the uber-heavys weren't heavy enough. I was considering selling it for a while.

Well, just yesterday when I got out of work, I checked Craigslist out of habit for a "Marshall JCM" and what I found was an ad for a DSL100 for $600. Eh... nothing new. BUT I open the ad and it says "FT: ... Willing to trade for another tube head."

Hmm... This is a long shot but...

I tell the guy I have an Orange Tiny Terror, we exchange info, I go to his house and about an hour later, I've got one of these in my room instead of a Terror



I am EXTREMELY happy and lucky that he was as eager to trade as I was, and he knew EXACTLY what he was getting and what it's value was. He just wanted something new.
I played a DSL about a year ago in Mcallen, TX and I loved it and this one is no different.

You know what's weird - when these first came out they were rather hard to find/get, at least in the stores in the midwest/east I had been looking. Even tried to order one through a shop in the US (since they were a marshall dealer) and it never came in. Now, they seem to be so prevalent on the used market, like everyone had one but me, hehe.

This is going go down as the SECOND best trade I've seen.

The FIRST best being my trade. I traded a Marshall DSL100 straight up for a VHT/Fryette Deliverance Sixty

Seriously though, you scored a great amp. Nothing but love here for the DSL. Make sure you run it through a 16 ohm cab though.

I have the Marshall MG Cab (gotta switch that out when I get my money figured out), it sounds good for what i use it for.

And thanks for the support guys, the guy was pretty cool about it, he was a math-metal/rock player running 4 different types of delay on superfast. He said he wanted to downsize so they could take their rig around on tours easily.

In the past 4 years, it seems like everyone lost their minds and started thinking lunchbox amps were equal to big boy amps.

thats pretty sweet! I want a new lunch box tiny terror combo pretty bad tho for portability. Im not into the heads though, I mean a head is a head, you need a backpack to make it more portable, otherwise it takes 2 hands and to be careful with the tubes like any other head, it just weighs 30 pounds less. no way in hell it would sound like a roaring 50 watter!!!!

I already have a thunderverb so I would prolly trade my jcm900 for a tiny terror combo tho

I would seriously recommend going with AVATARSPEAKERS.COM for your next cab purchase. 1x12 and 2x12 are very affordable and come stock with your choice of celestions.

Friggin' awesome. It's every bit of amp that I've been wanting for about 2 or three years now.

It's in good condition 7/10 due to some tolex wear (nothing major, just a few nicks) and as far as the tubes and everything else, they all work fine. Just fine. Maybe a little better even.

Still, as with all used amps, I should send it in to get biased or re-tubed, but I'm totally happy as-is. And also I'm too broke to afford sending it off Thank God he was cool for a straight up trade.

I've heard of them being recommended ALL of the time, so I assume there's a reason for that. I think when my money's in proper order, I'll give it a shot. (That'll probably be long after I'm in a retirement home though )
