    Default Texas Tele Assembly..The Good ,the Bad, and the Ugly

    Ive been up for about 32 hours. At about three in the morning yesterday, i decided to try and complete this Texas Tele.
    Just the body and the neck..so after 12 hours of wiring, rewiring, taking the neck off a dozen times to shim it right, restringing it a bunch of time, adding everysingle thing including string trees , strap buttons, and then setting it up for 3-4 hours.
    I cut this pickgaurd myself from some tanned cowhide a while ago, but it didnt fit when I put it together, so I proceeded to butcher the body and the guard.
    Also, I went balistic on the neck pocket;
    TIP- easy does it.
    Actually, the neck pocket is the thing that brings me down about the whole thing. It makes me sick to see how i butchered it..but this was a some piecemeal crap I got off ebay a long time ago. Im just glad it went together.
    plays good sounds good.
    I want to get a branding iron and put a brand on it. I put black hardware on it black so it would kind of harken to wrought iron and sh*t. I also got someone to cut me a Tele body made out of hardware store Pine. I lacquered it with Nitro.
    Here it is..the Texas Tele..wild as the West Texas Wind!;

    I like it other than the pickguard.... just looks kinda cheap to me, I don't know....

    the string winds are pretty bad though good buddy.....

    I'd cut him some slack based on the whole "up for 32 hours" thing.

    After a certain point I bet a lot of us would say "just get the damn strings on there. WHO CARES" or that sort of thing.

    Anyways, also for me, that pickguard wouldn't be my first choice but if someone handed me that guitar I'd happily play it as is. Good work.

    Are the inlays drawn on with a sharpie? hee hee.

    It looks like a fun guitar, and nevermind the neck pocket and all that. If it sounds good, and plays good, it doesn't matter. Just chalk it up to a learning experience, and it's not like you messed up an expensive body or some rare wood or something.

    I will say, that shouldn't have taken 32 hours. I think I could have built the whole thing start to finish in that amount of time, and I'm not some great builder. You def need the practice, start with with winding your strings.

    Don't care for the inlays, but that's a ****ing badass guitar, man. Nice job.
    Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.
