No, I mean the way he dresses and shrink wraps in the lead wires so they can't be yanked out and the way he tapes them so magnets can be easily changed. If you ever mag swap on one of his pickups you'll see what I'm talking about. It's just a better way of doing things, and he obviously spends more time on it than others do.

He also doesn't use a keeper bar, and his pickups use slightly larger mags, maybe that adds some "magic", I don't know.

I always thought Jim's pickups were like dragsters in the sense they are put together minimalistically in way but in a way that gets the job done better lol. I remember the first time I mag swapped was the Ironman to a C8 and it was a breeze... then I mag swapped a gibson, and a duncan... and it was a PITA compared to the WCR.

Only thing I don't jive with is the silicon sealant he uses for putting covers on. It's a pain to get off if you don't like covers like I do!
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

If you don't plan on opening one up it's probably a good idea, but yeah..

I'll just add this, the '78 I had to fix that I had a thread about a while back had the nastiest looking lead wiring job I've ever seen (stock, I have seen worse hack jobs), and it has Seymour's signature on the back. If it had been a WCR I have my doubts that it would have been broken in the same manner by someone forcing on a cover that didn't fit. Bareknuckles aren't much better. These all have comparable pricing if you were buying new. If given the choice between two comparable sounding pickups, I would choose the WCR. That's what I'm saying here.

Marshallhead is an A5 magnet 9.0K pickup. The Timbrewolfe is an A5 at 15K.

I will email Wolfe his thoughts. If so, I can have him rewind my Timbrewolf dor $55 and call it a day. I already like my Marshallhead neck pickup.

The Marshallhead neck is awesome, the bridge is a little bit bright.

IMO Sheptone pickups sound pretty similar to Wolfetones, without so much presence. All the Wolfetones I've played have been too bright for my liking.

Do you guys think the 59/Custom would match with my 8.2 Wolfetone Marshallhead neck?
I havent bought alot of "boutique" pickups, so my experience is slightly limited. however, in my experience, there has been nothing magical or extremely special about them. the purchases were made to find a tone for a particular guitar that I wasnt finding with other pickups. For the most part, Ive been lucky. But Ive yet to buy one that makes me go, OMG, this hand winding magic mojo just knocks my socks off and I totally get it!!!
Seymour Duncan Custom with an alnico 8 mag has been my magical pup in many guitars!!

I am VERY curious about the 59/Custom hybrid in a Les paul.. Most of the reviews and clips have been of it in a strat type.. So, I look forward to your review of it in a LP.
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

So maybe the Marshallhead neck will be nice with the Duncan 59/Custom.
The Wolfe Timbrewolf is not bright, but actually a bit dark.

Which is thicker, Brobucker or 59/custom? Is the Duncan Custom thicker than both? I like the Custom in a Les Paul, a lot! If the 59/Custom is thinner....I would stick to the Custom.

Music style is Adam Jones meets Mike McCready meets Jerry Cantrell meets Matthew Sweet! LOL. Seriously...

    Thanks!
