Default YJM Pickups as Replacement Pickups For Jeff Beck Strat

    Hi folks,

I am currently consider in getting a Seymour Duncan preloaded pickguard for my Jeff Beck Strat. The Strat has Alder body and Rosewood fingerboard.

I was very excited to see the Seymour Duncan YJM Prewired pickguard and have a few questions about this.

I read that these YJM pickups are low output, but the on Seymour Duncan website they are rated moderate. I do not know how the output is on my pickups now as they are Fender Dual-Coil Ceramic Noiseless. Do any of you guys know if the YJM pickups will be more output than my Fender ones now.

Another question I would like to ask. Does the YJM prewired pickguard have one of those component that will keep the guitar treble when I turn back the volume? I am not sure what you call this technically. Sorry.

I can't answer how the the Furys are, but as they are supposed to be a bit hotter than his old DiMarzios, I'd guess they should be on par probably.

As for a treble-bleed circuit, no no such thing, and you don't need it either.
I don't know if the Duncan preloaded comes with them, but the Fender YJM strat comes with "no-load" tone pots, which take the tone controls out of the circuit when at 10 , and that IMO is the key to get killer tones from these noiseless strat pickups.

Yngwie have always ran his strats with tone pots disconnected before the no-load pots.
Even the "dull" HS-3 really comes to life without a tone pot.
And as a bonus, without a tone pot, they clean up beautifully when you roll down your volume.

Seymour Duncan is afraid of the term "low output"

All their low output pickups are labeled as moderate. YJMs are low output pickups, the stock ceramics will be a lot hotter.

I tried a set of YJM Fury's in a friends Strat recently and was very impressed...I think they'd cop some Beck tones too...

    Thankyou for all your replies.

I will think a little more about the YJM pickups then. I really like the Triple Rails and the Everything Axe pickguards as well. It is hard for me to make a choice.

what don't you like about your current set up ? What's missing that you'd like to correct ? A mate has a custom shop JB Strat and it's stunning. I tried a mid and neck fury in a friend's strat last year, the thread is prob still on here somewhere. We found them great for high gain stuff but awful for clean and slightly dirty styles. He went ahead and bought the same Kinmans i've used for years and is much happier.

In regards to your desire for a treble bleed, i also find the kinman version the best. With singles or humbuckers. The values are hard to buy but i've just managed to get hold of the correct resistor and caps. They'll be a week to arrive but as i could only buy sets of 10 and only need 2 i'll be happy to send you a set. Pm your address if you want it.
