    Default GFS Brass Trem Block

Finally got around to putting one in my 50's Classic Player Strat, and all I can say is wow! I have the blocks in my other Strats but the difference was always subtle. With this one, it's a world of difference right away. Big, full, and rich sounding. Definitely thickened the tone in a positive way. I love it. Just wanted to share!

Not just seven but the FIRST seven.

They currently reside in a drawer next to hundreds of twist ties and used dental floss.

I don't buy cheap crap Brass from Guitar Fetish, if thats what you mean.
    I
f you want true "bell Grade" Brass ( and probably the old Charvel Brass is higher quality still), it'll cost 50 bucks plus shipping, and you can PM me for the link to the guy who sells off EBAY.

Also, you can get that "musical Alloy Brass" from that guy who did that test here..and its probably good.

Im sure the Guitar fetish (GFS) stuff is betetr than crummy Zinc, and different enough from a solid steel block, but for the price he gets , I'm sure its nothing to compare with top shelf Brass, is all I'm trying to say.

Ive got a couple of his cheapo steel blocks ( Jay) and they are better than zinc, but they are impure steel( Lead content).

lemme tell you a littel story about Jay at Guitar Fetish. I had bought probably 150.00 easily worth of his crap, and I ordered one of his Neodymium Start pickups.

    It arrived Used and DOA>

I contacted him, and he became beligerent about it even being possibly defective.
I had to file a Paypal claim, and I sent the POS back .

I got my money back finally of course, and ordered another Neo from this cool British guy named Entwhistle.

Irather drink a Drano Cocktail than order anything from Guitar fetish ever again, but knock yourself out.

I can tell you one thing..if you think his crummy pickups can hold a light to Duncans your a bigger fool than I though you wre, which aint saying much.

You're one sad old fart, you know that? The thread is about a damn brass block. Not some service you received, not pickup comparisons, not anything else. Stick to things you actually know about, like kiddie porn. ****ing imbecile.

Perhaps, but it's my POS, I'm happy with it, and it's better than what the guitar came with.

Okay. Thats a good block, but there are better grades, I should have said, instead of coming off as a snob.

Guitarupgrades and hoockey on ebay both make brass blocks for various trem bridges. I have had good dealings with both of them.

Guitarupgrades did a run of copper blocks. Though I missed the initial run, after a few emails, he agreed to make some more. I use brass in my BC Rich USA Warlock and my Washburn, copper in my BC Virgin. In all cases, the upgraded block adds bit of good weight to the body and some resonance when unplugged. The brass adds some nice punch to the sound and seems to help definition.

The copper adds a nice chunk of weight to the BC Rich Virgin's body. It looks phenominal against a black finish guitar. It adds a lot of depth to the sound that simply wasn't there with the zinc block.
