    Default JBJr + STKS4m + STKS4n

Hi, this is my first post so a big HELLO to all.

    I have a HSS partscaster (JBJr + STKS4m + STKS4n) 1V+1T.
With this configuration I assume the correct wiring is:
    http://cdn.seymourduncan.com/pdfs/su..._1v_1t_s5w.pdf

But I haven't hum cancelling on position 4 (bridge split + mid split). The truth is in this position the 60-cycle hum decreases considerably but not like 2nd position and is certainly audible with light overdrive

I'm sure the middle PU is RWRP respect to neck and RP (at least) to slug coil of JBjr... also I'm pretty sure about the wiring and soldering.

Are there anyone with this problem? I think is a very common PU combination but never see that issue in the forum, maybe is a defective JBJr or changed wire colors in it?

thanks mates and sorry for my awful english!

Swap the neck and middle pickups. Generally, a Duncan HB slug coil will be humbucking with a neck single coil.

Tested and not working, now hums in pos 2 and 4, the light hum has changed to pos 2 (neck/mid). Is weird because neck and middle shouldn't hum regardless the position, isn't true?

    any thoughts?

This is a tough one. They don't say in that first diagram which pup they're using where, so I'll assume they did neck-to-neck and middle-to-middle. I guess what I'd do now, is put it back the way that diagram shows, and see if you still have the problem. Then we wait to see if Frank, or someone, weighs in on this.

Sorry if I caused you extra work. The new Stack Plus' still baffle me a bit. (And I have two sitting on a shelf.)

No problem, I like this kind of work I've put back the PUs and the hum in pos 4 remains, as before pos 2 is deadly quiet. When in home I'll put sockets to try different combinations of color wires with the JB in trial and error mode.

I tested the polarity with a compass and now don't remember if is NS N S or SN S N (being JB screw, N; JB slug, S; STKm, N; STKn S) but seems ok. Unable to check the wound direction with my multimeter.

Also I tryed to combine bridge+middle without split (in humbucking mode) and it doesn't hum, so if I can't do in split mode I'll try to wiring the JB in parallel as final solution.

Well, I've tried all wire combinations and still hum in pos4 so I swapped the JBJb for a GFS Lil' killer I have lying at home and problem persist... the problem is probably due to middle PU (I changed the superswitch in case the problem is it, but again the hum)

Maybe I should have done this trial and error again with PUs neck & mid swapped but I get bored and finally wired the JBJr with a toggle for parallel mode and pos4 (without split) is quiet at last.

Now I see that notch positions as JBJr in parallel have a liiiittle more volume than pos 1, 3 an 5 (JB in humbucking) but I have yet to see the PU heights.

Thanks again for your help and marked as (partially) solved for me.
