    Default Any ICON fans here?

    am looking for gear info on the band ICON especially the debut records tone!
    What did they use amp/pickup/guitar wise on it?
    I am pretty sure they used duncans but can find out anything on the net?

    I`m no help with there gear but I love the debut , got in in `84 and have a cdr copy of it today. Great cheesy `80s metal. I would think a JB,Distortion or Super D thru a heavily boosted Marshall would get those tones.

    Check out post #93 and #94. I defo hear a solid state in there although it is mega processed. I was thinking maybe DD or JB before I found that link.

    thanks bro i was thought they used JB's and someone told me they used ROCKMAN X-100's on that record?

    I LOVE icon. I remember seeing a clip on YouTube a while back where Dan Wexler's talking about the tone from the first record....I think he did say solid state amps, bumped at 400Hz and 800Hz (one bump for each guitarist). Yeah, now I remember, it was on their MySpace page but the video isn't available anymore:

    Not sure about the early pickups, but on An Even More Perfect Union, Wexler is playing what looks like a standard Jackson soloist (albeit pink). Not sure what if it was modded.
