I voted for the C8, but I really like the C/59 hybrid also. But I love the hybrid with a UOA5 in it. And since that wasn't an option, I voted C8.

Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

I voted custom8. I actually really like the custom wind in general, but the custom8 takes the cake for me; such a versatile pickup!
I have a custom/59 hybrid sitting at home here that I haven't installed yet, so I can't comment; but I have a feeling I am going to love it as well!

to all that like the CC you gotta try the C3! it is amazing![]()

no full shred on that list?

I fell in love with the Custom, I own a CC too and I also had a C5 and a Hybrid, but the standard Custom on my epi mahogany les paul junior (tuned down 2 steps) is one of the best sound I had on a guitar in my life.

Rick, what neck p'up are you using with the "Blueman Custom"?
I've using a UOA5 Custom in my #2 guitar for three months now, and I'm sorry to say but I'm not really bonding with it. And my A4 '59n doesn't really wanna play nice with it either...
Next set for that guitar: an UOA5 modded Antiquity set I've recently acquired.
Stay tuned!![]()

How would you compare the EQs on the CC and the C3? I know you have a different EQ system so give the EQ for both so we have a baseline. I have a CC and I'm almost tempted to swap mags in in and I'm wondering if I should use one of the A4s or A8s that I already have or get an A3.

I like the original.
The C5 was a bit too scooped for me, highs were too high and bass was a bit boomy. Funny, I feel the same was about the 59 so I guess it makes sense.
I had the CC in a couple guitars, a strat and I can't remember what else, it wasn't bad but it didn't really do anything for me either. Sounded like a generic nothing-special pickup.
The C8 was a disappointment. With all the hype I thought it was going to be a gift from Zeus. Put it in an SG and it was like the original ceramic with a little less highs and lots of weird overtones going on.

Same thing here... I found it very difficult to match the UOA5 Custom with the neck pickup. So, I keep changing between the C5 and C8. I still can't decide which one is staying in my SG. In this guitar I play blues and classic rock (things like AC/DC, Sabbath...) and also a little bit of Guns and Roses... For the Angus tone, it seems to me that C5 works best.
I just can't choose between them... =(
Custom 3/ Custom UOA5 are awesome!

I've used the Custom and the CC. I've switched both Customs over to C8s because they just sound more organic to me, less grunty than the ceramic, but still tough. I was sold after the first swap, and it performed equally well in the 2nd.
The highs aren't harsh at all and the low-end remained tight. I love it. I left the CC in one guitar mostly because I love the lead voicing (though the C8's is close) and to have some variety...

Weird overtones...?
I've been using a C8 in my #1 guitar for over four years now, plus I've modded and installed C8 in at least two dozen of my customer's guitars with 100% satisfaction and I swear I have absolutely no idea what are you talking 'bout here.
Care to explain?![]()
