Default Celestion G12K-100 VS. Classic Lead 80?

Any thoughts on these two speakers? I have Classic Lead 80s in my THD 212 but they seem too dark for my Bogner and PWE so I am thinking of swapping them out to G12K-100s. I will let ya all know the tone report once I repair.

I am curious what others have found!

    Thanks.

How bout I get a set of G12K-100s and let you guys know?
The G12K-100 reminds me of a mix of the Celestion G12-65 and G12H-30.

I like to have a mix of tones to pull from so I have my Bogner cab with V30s which I absolutely love! My THD is getting the G12K-100s and my Stone Age is getting Lynchbacks.

I thought the K100 sounds like a more low end/mid oriented T75. Cool speakers, what I'm gonna put in my G-Flex, eventually.

My understanding is that the K100 have highs and lows similar to the T75, but there are varying interpretations surrounding the midrange voicing.
They are one speaker I am really hoping to try.

I have not tried the classic lead 80s, but from my experience with the g12k100 (previously the g12H100) with a couple of amps, i can say that its a really strong a gutsy speaker. It does not have a lot of top end detail but it has a lot more mid grunt than a g12T75, and less of the cutting spike that v30s have. Great speakers for rock.

I'd agree with that. Killer speakers for heavier tones!

A few friends of mine compare them to a mix of G12-65 and G12H-30. My buddy swears by these and is a blues player.

I've got four 100 watt H&K labeled Rockdrivers in my H&K cab. The cab is from the early nineties and I know H&K used Celestion for their OEM stuff, and later also used Eminence.
These are 8 ohm speakers and I'm beginning to think they are actually GK-100's. They are not far off from what I can tell, and visually they look nearly identical.

Just put two G12K-100s in my one cab replacing the CL-80s. The 80s seem to have more mids, the K-100s are bigger sounding overall and very balanced. Remind me of a mix of the G12H-30 and G12-65, nice and warm. Great classic rock speakers, killer clean tones, great jazz speakers, perfect for any style I throw at them. They beat out my Scumbacks as well. Right now my favorite speakers are G12K-100s, V30s and Lynchbacks.

What Scumbacks did they beat out?

Tok my Stone Age 212 to practice with tswo G12K-100s and it sounded so big, smooth, creamy and rich. Perfect classic rock speaker. Reminds me of a higher powered G12H-30 with bigger lows and more mids.

You guys are making me gas for the 100s now. I've always been curious about them. I dig the tones that I'm getting for modern rock/metal out of my two 4X12s loaded with T75s and V30s (both in an X pattern). But I would really like to hear a cab loaded with either all K100s, or an X pattern of K100s and V30s.

I've been diggin' the G12K-100s for about 5 years now. Great all around do everything speaker. Lush and rich lows and mids. I find that the highs are very ample, just not harsh or piercing...smooth and warm, yet I can still manage to get some great country chime/clang out of them when I want.

I hear people complain that they are stiff, but I don't think so at all.

Play them loud and they aren't stiff.

Some guys claim these are speakers for metal. I disagree! What style or styles do you play?
