Most genuine twang pickup for a strat bridge position

I'm looking for the MOST COUNTRY TWANG GENUINE CHICKEN PICKIN DANNY GATTON'ESQUE type tele pickup, price range is 60 or below.

What needs to be done to an MIM strat to fit a telecaster pickup in the bridge?

Also, I intend on doing the Jatoba trem block mod with telecaster ferrules like im doing on my MIA strat, so the genuine tele tones will be more achievable (resonating via wood rather than metal)

Shoot me suggestions! Any chicken pickers here? I'll be using this thru a blues junior, distortion pedal is a DS-1. What tele pickups have you guys tried out and really got that legit super trebly twang?

well, I did a bunch of reading, much has to do with the tele bridge format, the baseplate, etc.

Where do you guys recommend I get a baseplate from online (I obviously already searched, im just looking for your preferences and experiences) Do different materials make a difference?

Do you think that brass saddles would help or hurt?

Any good Tele pickup in a Tele can sound like that - if you're Danny Gatton. That's really where that sound is coming from: him.

That's his '53 Tele but the picture quality isn't good enough for me to see if he's using Bardens or the stock 1953 pickups in his Tele. I suspect you're hearing stock '53 Tele pickups with a flat poled bridge pickup.

You'll need a new pick guard and if your guitar is routed for a bridge humbucker a Tele pickup might fit without enlarging the rout. It did in mine.

I use the alnico 2 Duncan CS '53 Hot for Tele Tapped. Maybe you could find a used Jerry Donahue or Antiquity pickup.

i prefer the brass saddles but im not going for twang. the steel old style saddles tend to be brighter. new style steel saddles dont twang very much. id go for old style brass over new style steel. materials totally make a difference but to get options you need to drop some coin. calaham and glendale make the best tele bridges ive used but they aint cheap. this is a good cheap alternative:

i have the chopped version and i like it. it can be used string thru body or top load which is fun to experiment with.

I have that Wilkinson bridge and I love it. Excellent value for money.

The Joe Barden bridge is what I use on my Tele and they are $65 from Allparts. The advantage it has over the Wilkinson is the cutout on the treble side that makes playing more comfortable and allows easier palm muting. I use the Barden bridge on my Tele and it's thick steel body makes my Tele sound fuller than it did with the stamped metal bridge from Fender. I also prefer brass saddles - less steely sounding and warmer sounding than steel.

You'll never, ever in a million years make as Strat sound like a Tele...people have been trying for decades with FAR more than a $60 budget and they have ALL failed.

I'm always scratching my head at players who want A out of B. If you want something, buy the real McCoy.

But, if you're wanting what I think you are....go with the Surfer Custom or Twangbanger.
