My '62RI strat now has this configuration, along with a generic Ibanez stack which I made outta coils scavenged from a couple Ibanez humbuckers.
Good grief, it sounds fantastic, especially the Hot Rails bridge model in parallel mode. It's extremely fluid and sizzly. Perfect neck tone you'd expect from a hot single coil, but humcancelling, tight but warm, very sweet sounding, and still pretty hot so it matches the output of the HB103 perfectly.
And the HB103 sounds great with the A8 also. Muchas gracias to Diego for suggesting it. I know the HB103 is supposed to be based on the DD, and I could definitely hear a bit of that when it had the ceramic mag in it, but in my strat it sounded harsh and a bit thin and kinda jangly. The A8 filled in the mids, added some much needed low end warmth and smoothed out the highs, as expected. Definitely brought the beef
Also, I gave my strat a good setup the other day, so now both my #1 and #2 guitars are in top form, and they sound amazing
Now I just gotta get my Ibanez guitar loaded with some killer metal pups and
I'll be SET!![]()
