I'm not sure anything is "above" criticism. I'm sure there are plenty of things that really aren't worth spending time criticizing, though.

I could say I have faith in a restaurant's ability to serve me good food. Does that mean the restaurant is above criticism?

Right, because a faithful person places the object of their faith above criticism. That has nothing to do with a non-faithful person's ability to be critical of religion though.
