    Default UA05 in 59/custom hybrid

For the record, and thanks to Blueman for his suggestion, this worked out great. I think the 59/custom hybrid should COME like this. The top is now flatter without that peaky top that seemed to have a spike somewhere. Yet somehow it doesn't seem to really sound darker. In stock form it's got a skinny top almost to a fault, so when you turn down it gets too thin. Not now tho. Very nice !

This is what I've been recommending since before it was a production model. The UOA5 rounds out/softens the high end but doesn't eliminate it. It also adds some mids that are somewhat lacking due to the stock A5. It's just an overall more pleasant and useful tone with the UOA5.

Not to hijack, but Blueman, have you put an A8 into the hybrid?

No. My bridge mag of choice these days is UOA5.

I installed a 59/custom hybrid and a Custom-UOA5 in two of my guitars a few weeks ago. So far I'm really liking the C-UOA5, but the 59/Custom...I Dunno...
The highs seem shrill and edgy. The mids are there, but don't have much..."personality". I'm wondering about trying the UOA5 smooth magnet in that one too. It did wonders for the Custom.

The Gibson 498t has some grittiness to it that I don't mind, but the 59/C hybrid seems abrasive in a bad way to my ears.

Where can I buy some magnets in Europe?

The UOA5 is the second and last magnet I put in my C/59 hybrid. To me it seems like the perfect mag for that pup (as well as many more pups).
