Oops. I did it again.
The surprising thing about this model is the tonal contrast between the two pickup positions - even though the pickup type is the same.
This has given me an idea of what to do to the MIM Tele that I acquired a few months ago.

My nearest Fender dealer runs a Facebook page rather than a website. When new stock comes in, he photographs it and posts the pics. Whenever new pics are posted, it is safe to assume that that a big, fat invoice will be reaching this dealer very shortly afterwards. For the customer, this situations means leverage for cash deals.![]()
Is that the shadow of the case lid causing that black area on the body where the controls are ?
Nice looking guitar. How does it sound ? It's got that look about it that just says "Let's go to work"
Lumbering dinosaur (what's a master volume control?)
Not exactly. The control cavity cover is the same size as a regular Tele's metal control plate. The cavity is cut roughly half an inch nearer to the neck than a traditional Tele.
Sounds like a cross between a beefed up Tele and a hollowbody. Anything from raunchy Rock to jazzy Blues tones - depending on amp saturation, finger dynamics and where the volume pot is set.
I am not going to go so far as to compare this Tele to a Gretsch because I have never had a Gretsch with which to compare.
As for "going to work", I would say that this is the sort of guitar that you could happily play an entire set on.

Dual-humbucker Tele's are cool. Interesting color too.

That's ****ing awesome. Congrats, man.![]()
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.
I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.
Far out, it's black !! I thought it was some kind of metallic weird sorta olive green colour, and that's why i asked about the black bit where the controls are.
Lumbering dinosaur (what's a master volume control?)
Awesome guitar. Congrats!

I am always teetering on the verge of putting a FilterTron in my Tele. Congrats to you, sir, and enjoy!

Thats cool, because Fender's website has one pictured in black, but the only color that they say they sell it in is sunburst.
Not a bad guitar. I am not a huge fan of TV Jones pups, but they aren't bad either. I love the simplicity of that Tele, and you know that it was made for playing something twangy.

the 3 colors together are messing me up - maybe if I saw it out of the case![]()

No. The nitro-cellulose finish is sooooooooo shiny that you are seeing a reflection of my filthy ceiling.![]()

I will probably build a 'Tron / 'Tron guitar in my "P" shape after I move to the new house. That's what I really want. I'm going to ruin it by trying a recessed TOM, though.
