Default Possible speaker combinations with Texas heats?

I'm looking to swap 2 of my Texas Heats in my 4x12 cab. The high end is a little too smoothed out for me. I'm looking to put a little more top end sizzle into the mix, maybe a little british flavor. Wizard, Governor, Private Jack perhaps. Anyone have experience with this?

If I had to pick one of those, I would say the Wizard.

I'd say a Private Jack it'll give you that classic greenback tone should mesh very well. I like the Wizard but it's a very efficient and loud speaker it would likely drown out your Texas Heats.

That's what I'm worried about. The db rating on the wizard is 103 and the TH is 99.

I think the private jack/wizard combo would be cool for a good brit only tone as it'd be greenback and 12H30 style speakers.

Eminence usually has a good support staff maybe send them an email explaining your tonal goals, the amp/cab you are using and see what they suggest.

    Jensen C12K / Thread.
Other than that, Emi Red White and Blues or Screamin Eagle, unless you want to pay considerably extra for an Eminence Neo speaker, which has approximately the same tone as the others, but is more touch responsive, if Celestions are any indication.
The main advantage with those is weight reduction.
You could also try a Cannibis Rex to smooth the Texas Heat out some( thats what I do with the Cannibis here

Think I'm gonna look into the Eminence Legend series.....Possible Greenback clone.

as much as I like the GB12 (i believe was the greenback style legend and also a great speaker) I think the Private Jack is the way to go if you are after the greenback tone

whats your amp? how old are the tubes?
I know its not about speakers, but i wonder if fresh tubes will give you the top end clarity you crave...

I have some Texas heats. Its not his tubes. They are pretty dark speakers. They mixed well with 2 sheffeilds in my 5150 cab. They are "greenback" clones. So yeah I say private jack or gb12

i have Texas heats too (in my twin)...yeh they are dark. I love em...im just making sure his lack of top end clarity is not caused by old toobs.

They sell them as a "metal" combo with Swamps, which is crazy, but I'll bet it's HEAVY.

I have wondered how that works out with swamps being 102db and Texas heats being 99db

Same way T75's work with V30's, different frequencies are accentuated at different levels. You hear a bit more of the louder speaker, but it's not detrimental, like using a quieter cab with a louder one.

Swamps are huge sounding on the low/low mids, and the TH has more emphasis on the midrange, so it's probably a good pairing, but I'll bet the low end is tremendous. I ran a Swamp/Wiz combo for a bit, and that was massive, no need for a bass player.

i love greenbacks but i think they have a pretty smooth high end. its not as thick sounding as the texas heat but you want sizzle, then i dont think a greenback is the way to go.

What about a G12T-75? That ought to put some highs back. I'm not sure if that would mix well with the Texas Heat though. They are all over eBay but I've heard the word ice pick too many times with this speaker. Who here uses them?

The DSL401K comes with a G12T100, and its got plenty of highs! If you want ice pick, its not hard to dial it up.

Not trying to hijack, but has anyone mixed a V30 with the Texas Heat?

How old are your tubes? Power and preamp. As they age they lose both top and bottom. NOS or brand doesn't make much difference if they are past their prime.
