    Default Pickups in an RG

    Hi all.

    Have an Ibanez RG 470DX
    Mesa Triple Rec amp
    Currently no pedals

Need a good bridge pickup for metal (passive not active)

    Thoughts/opinions/reccommendations?

    Thanks people :-)

Dimarzio d activators would sound beautiful for metal in that guitar

Well, since you went there, a Breed is also a fantastic pickup in a basswood RG with a trem. Depending on your style(s) of metal, you may not find it aggressive enough, but it's loud and fat and organic in a very versatile way. If you do your part, you can do everything from Van Halen to old-school Slayer with that pickup.

I've got a set of those in the Meanstreet Exile I built from parts. They sound much more awesome than I expected them to.

I would go for a Duncan Distortion, i had it in my RG550 before i went active & it was the best passive for the job & i played both Thrash & Death Metal with it.
