Default graphic eq boost or cut

For those of you running a graphic eq in your effects loop, do you find it more useful to boost frequencies you want to exagerate or to cut around them?

Depends on the amp. I'm playing with a little Randall RT503 at the moment, "until something better comes along," and I have to boost the mids with my EQ on the OD2 channel, because it's so scooped.
If I'm using th OD1 channel, I boost the lows and pull a little bit of high end out.
It just depends on what your working with.

I just want the bass punchier and more crunchy upper mids out of my 5150

It's going to depend a lot on your guitar, signal chain, speakers/cab, and the room you're in. The best thing to do is experiment with your EQ until you find a sound you like.

you usually want to do a little of both. if you go over the top with cutting you lose too much signal if you boost things too much you end up with a weird tone and maybe extra noise
