Default hamer players i need some help.

I looked at a real nice U.S. hamer studio arch top. The only thing that has me worried. Is it doesn't say where its made anywhere on it. So the guy let me write down the serial number so i could look it up. I have been trying to look it up but the number is not bringing up anything at all. You can tell by the way it feels and looks that it is a quality piece. So i was wondering if some one could help me find any info on it. I have to let the guy know tomorrow. The serial number is 541119.

    According to the Hamer website:

Hamer USA Guitars: Serial Numbering System

From 1974 through 1981 Hamer USA employed two separate serial numbering systems, one for custom instruments and one for production models:

Custom Instruments: These instruments are easily recognized by the use of a four digit number stamped into the wood on the back of the peghead. The numbers ran from #0000 through #0680. All of the early Hamer USA Standards and 12-String basses as well as a number of prototype instruments were included in this serial numbering system.

Production Models: Production models are stamped (initially with ink, later into the wood, on the back of the peghead) with either a five or six digit serial number. The first digit indicates the year that the instrument was built. The next four or five digits are sequentially stamped in order of production. For example, serial number 7 0001 was built in 1977 and was the first production model guitar built. Similarly, 0 1964 was built in 1980 and was the 1,964th production guitar built. The serial numbering sequence by decade is indicated below:
    1970s: 7 0001 - 9 1450
    1980s: 0 1451 - 9 24192
    1990s: 0 24193 - 9 50155
    2000s: 0 50156 - present
Also, shouldn't there be a small USA on the headstock similar to the picture below?

As a Hamer owner, I tend to agree with this post. However, I would not be surprised by exceptions.

No little usa after the Hamer logo NOT a USA but that fits to be a 1995 USA number especially if stamped in. Sounds nice then uh?

Thanks for the info i am going to check it out some more tomorrow. I didn't notice the usa after hamer. But i will check it out better. I tried to find one like it online but couldn't. It has binding on the neck and body but not the headstock. It also had regular trapezoid inlays not the victory ones.

Hmmm. Can't say I've ever seen a USA Hamer like that but I've seen plenty of import Studios with those specs. Is it a flame or quilt top?

Its a flame top. Rivals the gibson AAA and alot of the prs 10 tops. I am not 100% but the finish seems like nitro and it comes with a hamer hardshell case. I am going to look at it in the sun the store was poorly lit. But the finish was similar to the 59 burst or amber.

anything you can't do on a Les Paul is because you haven't practiced enough or you don't rock hard enough.

Sounds like a Studio custom... mine has trap inlays. Will definitely have the little USA after Hamer on the headstock. The imports generally don't have neck binding (until recently).

Try the Hamer Fan Club (forum). They might be able to help.

I might qualify as a good HFC rep. Been a member there since 1998.

When i went back and tried it something just seemed off about it. It did have usa on it but the pickup had been changed gfs. Me and the sales guy pulled them yo see. The seam on the stop was seperating alittle and cracked the clear. I still offered to buy it if they came down from $800. But they actually tried to raise the price on me to $900.
When i mentioned the price i was told the day before. The owner of the shop said the other guy was not authorized to do that. Since i got to try one and know more about them i will keep my eyes open. Thanks for all the info guys it did help alot.

Shoot walk in with $800 cash and you walk with a guitar as good as any $1200+ LP IMNSHO.
