I thought it odd myself for the exact same reason: White's the standard strat cover. These though come with no covers of any kind. I'm ok with that, but it'd be nice if they even just came in white. As to output they're supposed to come close to the tone of the P90. They're not in yet so I don't know precisely how they sound, but I'm excited to get them in. To get them in I'm having my luthier shave down the bobbin somewhat in a normal strat cover.

for strats they don't have a cover at all the quarter pound is just almost like a tele pickup it's just the black bobbin, wire and I think they wrap it so the innards aren't exposed to the elements, this is likely due to the oversized pole pieces and intense wiring, they'd have to have a custom made pickup cover

So they'll fit regular strat pickup covers of your choice then? Is that correct?

Exactly. Still, for strats it's a bit strange to at least try and have a consistent look.

Nope you have to shave down the bobbin some to make it fit.

no they are too large to fit in regular strat covers, they have oversized poles and they have more winds you would have to make a custom cover for them

Ah, I see. Hmm, I bet those would look cool in a Fender Roadworn strat.

I am thinking of the oddest combo available. For example, cream and white bobbin, is that floor shop custom or custom shop?

I've seen the black and white bobbins as floor shop custom. So basically, switch the black with a cream one.

I have two guitars with Duncans in them, but the older ones doesn't have the logo on them, my newer ones do--I kind of wish the older ones had the name on them.

That's actually not true. Derek has made them with a shaved down top and covers fit just fine over the windings. The poles sit flush though, so that looks a little different. They don't poke up through the cover.

Yes, Shop Floor Custom. You can even order one in pink and purple if you so desire.

Would some of the poles be recessed then or literally almost flush with the top of the cover?

well to be fair I didn't use SD pickup covers when I attempted this and we all know how much parts can vary in size

LtKojak I don't have a problem with you but again it takes two people to argue so perhaps you should just stop picking fights with me and act civil for a change instead of making every thing I type into an argument

I've only used those Quarter Pounder strat pickups one time in my whole life, and I had some strat pickup covers from allparts that I was trying to use for a customer that wanted cream covers instead of the black stock deal.

Don't even try to tell me that companies don't have slight variances in sizes for pickups/covers because that simply isn't true. This argument is now over before it gets blown out of proportion as it has in the past. It's just as easy to let something go and not respond as it is to type up something you know?
