Angry If you're gonna swap tubes, make sure you're not a ****ing ****** first.

I made a dumb move and I destroyed the baseplate of one of my new E34L tubes on the spot while installing it.

Now the plastic bit is stuck inside the tube socket, and I've got only one E34L tube. And I don't know if I should take my amp to a tech or just disarm it and try to remove the plastic pieces from there.

    I'm a ****ing idiot.

You can usually get it out. Might have to open the amp up and push it out.

BUT VERY IMPORTANT: Be careful to discharge the stored voltage in the caps first tho and unplug the amp!!!

When you do get it out, just super glue the locating pin back on the tube again.

    As said above ^^^^^^^
We have ALL done that to one degree or another.
Is it just the key-way (the little spindle) or is it the entire base that broke off the glass.?
Either way.....you should be able to unplug your amp, Check/Drain the caps, and poke-pull-pry that plastic from the socket.
I do not think there should be any need for a tech.

Thanks guys. It's just the plastic pin in the middle.

I tried to pull it out and it broke eve further so no chance of super glueing it back...

Also, I fired it up anyway and all I got was hum.
    Should that happen?

how did it jam? did you not align the locator properly?
Anyway, no big deal, just open the amp and push it out from the inside. Drain the filter caps tho while you are there.

Yup. Thought I had it right, put it in and heard a loud crack. Didn't fire it up.
Still, I got it out, glued the plastic bit it back in but I only get hum when on.

Guess I need one more E34L now. But it works with the stock tubes so I'm happy,
    thought this could be worse.

    And thanks for the encouragement.

And to round the worst New Gear Day I've had in 27 years:

I tried to wire up my new A2Pro/Demon combo and I can't get it right. Both pots cut out when goig for full volume, maybe I bridged two position on the switch by accident.
I've rewired it four times already, cleaned the excess solder and still doesn't work.
How can I mess this up? I wired a complete Strat a few years ago, now I can't get two pickups right.

**** this ****. I'm taking it to a tech tomorrow so he installs a push-pull for splitting as well.

Don't feel bad. One time I bought 4 new Svetlana EL-34's, and stupidly laid them on the floor near my amp. While I was getting the chassis out of the box, I lost my footing and crushed one of the tubes.....dammit!!!

Heh, now I laugh reading at those posts. I really was seeing red.

Somehow the pots fixed themselves and they work nicely and I can tell that the A2Pro is pure sex.
And I just played through my amp real loud with the stock 6V6 tubes for a couple of hours. Cranked the master for a while too.

Yeah it would be nice to have another flavor of tubes to toy with now, but it ****ing rocks as it is.

Oversensitive much? I can't stand it when people ***** about this kind of crap.

Anyway Diego, happy New Stuff Day. I've really come to appreciate an A2 humbucker in the neck paired with an A5 in the bridge. I love my PG/PG+ combo. It just slays for loud RnR stuff. Liquid leads with plenty of bite from the neck, and beautifully crunchy rhythms from the bridge. I've also found that the bridge can do leads wonderfully, and the neck can cop a great rhythm tone. I think that's just the beauty of 10K and under winds.

I mess up a preamp tube once, when the amp didn't make any sounds I went to check it, it was kinda cracked in the base, still not sure how the hell I did it .

If it would have been a power tube I would be kicking myself in the b@lls
