Kam...Yeah it's got a loop and a full B,M,T EQ section. Those things missing from the other Terrors are what stopped me from trying them.

Ashurbanipal...Thanks. That's kinda how this is set up. Although I really don't consider it w/d/w since it's 3 different amps and my dry amp (the JMP since it has no FX loop for delay and verb) is on the right no the middle. I don't know what it is really....it just sounds killer.

desertdude...I agree. Now I want to try a Rockerverb since this little guy sounds so good I wonder what its big brother sounds like.

Maynardo...Yeah I saw that demo too and it helped push me to buy the amp. Don't get me wrong, it's quite gainy. In basic terms I'd say it's like a hot rod JCM800 in terms of gain. However when compared to the gain monster that is my 5150III it's no contest, that 5150III just has stupid amounts of gain on tap. I never even bother, or need to, bring it past 2 o'clock. Thus why it was perfect for my needs of an amp between my stock JMP and 5150III in terms of voice and gain.

oh ok, Yeah the 5150s with those 7 gain stages are no contest, I kinda expected the #4 to have more gain that channel 2 of the 5150.

anyways cheers for having such a killer rig!

I'd say it's in the ballpark of Ch 2 of the 5150III in terms of amount of gain but perhaps just a tiny hair less. No matter what it's a real cool amp to own for the price. IMO Orange finally got one of the Terror series right with this one and didn't sacrifice needed things like a full EQ section or FX loop to make it cheaper.

Finally got around to watching some demos. That thing sounds killer. It really does sound pretty damn close to the bigger Rockerverbs, in my opinion.

Thankfully, it's a single channel, though. That's killed the mounting GAS for me. If the Dual Terror had an effects loop, I'd probably own one by now.

I was blown away with how good it sounds when I started playing it. One of my favorite things about it is that it's a single channel amp. Heck, I wish my 5150III was just ch 3. I hardly ever play clean honestly.

I'm looking for a complentary head to my JCM800 2204 and this one seems cool. Oddly enough, the 50 watter 5150III was up for the running but I didn't really dig all three channels and can do most of what I liked about the amp with my Marshall.

I'm gonna try out a #4 soon for fun.

Your 800 can't really do what the 5150III can do. The cleans on the III are far better (it is a Fender amp after all) Perhaps Ch2 has some areas of slight similarity but nothing dead on. As for Ch3, no stock Marshall I've ever heard sounds anywhere near as good as it at high gain with no OD pedals needed. Plus it's a 6L6 amp, meaning more bottom and top and less mid focus. Trust me, I own pretty much the same amp as an 800, my JMP which just looks different on the outside and runs 6550s. It and the III are vastly different amps. They compliment each other quite well due to being so different actually. The #4 is in simplest terms like a little hot rod 800. Darker voice than my JMP and more gain on tap. They all work quite well together in any variation of pairs (all 3 is just nutty fun) but the best combo is the III with either of the other two since the III is the drastic departure from the others where the #4 and JMP are like cousins the III is a complete stranger.

I've had a 5150II in the past, and played a 5150 III. It is cool and wicked insane I agree. Just for what I do I like my Marshall better.

I am not knocking it by any means or saying the Marshall does the same, just that for what I like it's not quite my thing. I do apologize if I came across rude.

    Congrats on the new #4!

Yup, it's Allison Robertson as ex-250 said.

xxxplorer...I didn't think you were mean or anything like that. Doesn't bother me if you don't like an amp I do or anything like that. That wasn't my point at all, sorry for the confusion. I was just trying to explain that IMO the III is actually the better compliment to an 800 than the #4 would be since it's quite a drastically different amp where as the #4 sounds like it's in the same family as an 800. the #4 is still very different than an 800 but has more similarities to it than the III does...if that makes sense. So to me having two very different amps would be better than having two that share some similarities.

Good to hear about this amp, I have my eye on it....

Is it capable of reaching Slipknot levels of gain though?

And does it really have that violin effect like Chappers said?

Ahhh, makes sense. Now that you mention it, the plain ol' regular TT did remind me of my amp a bit... that may be why I liked it lol.

    Thanks for the write up!

You'de be suprised how little gain some of these guys really use, especially recording. Guitars can sound wicked brutal with a good right hand and eq'd properly with the gain dialed back further.

Early Slipknot sounds like more gain, but to me some of the newer tracks had better guitar sounds and sounded like it was dialed back a bit. I could be wrong though.

I don't even like slipknot, to be honest. I just know what preamp it's based on. Should be pretty cool.
