I have a PRS SE so I can vouch for the Jazz, sounds great clean, overdriven or split.

6k and an alnico8 magnet aint so bad, actually. as long as you use 011's on a les paul, I mean, why not? Not my personal cup 'o tea, nor coffee, but it's not that bad

This is 2 threads that you've mucked up and its getting ridiculous at this point i'm going to stop replying to you. Not that i dont enjoy kicking you around its that its bad form and its really bad manners twords the original posters intent and adds nothing to the discussion. To the OP's I apologize.
I understood him. It sounds like you need to calm the f*ck down. A request for clarification would have been understandable, but man did you go off!

To add to the discussion: A Jazz would work very well, but I think it would be too bright with 500k pots. 250K pots would smooth it out without adding any sag. It's a very "solid" sound.

I happen to really dig some of those types of pickups hence why i named the lollar el rayo. It's kinda like a single coil on steroids without the buzz.

I guess I never have problems with string energy since I personally use a custom gauged set of 12-56 strings on my electrics lol.

Man 6k? Seems like that would be pretty anemic sounding. They say they are going for a between humbucker and single tone which i believe but thats pretty light on the winding.

Seymour Duncan should be fined $1000 every time someone makes a statement like that, because the ignorance behind it is their fault. They showed output in DCR for years, and they ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Pickup output is NOT measured in DCR.

6k wind is plenty, because it is larger wire. Hence lower resistance. NOT less turns. What matters on a pickup for output is MAGNET STRENGTH and NUMBER OF TURNS. DCR is a byproduct of turns and wire size, you can have MORE turns and output on a LOWER DCR pickup due to wire size or lower DCR and HIGHER output due to magnet strength, etc. Look at the DCR on a DiMarzio X2n sometime. Insanely high output, not high DCR.

The DiMazio humbucker from hell is UNDER 6k DCR for the same reason. It is NOT a weak output pickup in the neck, in fact it is hotter than a jazz neck or a '59 neck (and brighter/tighter at the same time).

That 6k pickup is hot enough in the neck, it is every bit as loud as the DiMarzio super 3 it is paired with in the bridge. So hot in fact i had him make me a lower wind one.

Same on the El Rayo. Even larger wire. Less DCR. NOT less turns. Plenty hot. So hot I had Kevin make me a similar pickup that reads 3k DCR. Still, plenty for the neck.

thank you I was afraid to get technical since people were being argumentative and attacking me earlier. It can be very easy to be misleading when you don't consider everything.

    No,
But the thing is, The sound that EMG produces is not organic enough for me,
    It sounds "plastic"

EMG's make whatever guitar you put them in sound like a guitar with EMG's they basically take away the personality of your instrument, that's kinda the downside imho to using actives.

Compared to the boutique pickups I usually use the difference is night and day to my ear.

Jazz neck is a wonderful pickup. I keep going back to it. i really like the 59n but only if there is a magnet swap. A2 or A4. 59nA4 sounds great when overdriven and has better cleans than the stock A5. Jazz sounds good all the time
