    Talking NGD!!!

Ok, so NGD was actually last Thursday, but this is my first chance to really post it. Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe. So far it plays pretty impressively for off the shelf. A good set-up will really make it sweet! Sounds pretty damn impressive too, and those P90s really are flexible on tones. This is honestly a few firsts: First Tele, First Semi-Hollow, First P90 equipped guitar. I'm probably gonna put some Duncans in down the road and replace the pots with CTS. Also, I'm not a fan of vintage-style tuners and I plan to put some Sperzels on instead.

Nice guitar. I recently acquired a Tele of my own, and I'll have a set of P-90s in my SG shortly. Not the same I know, but Teles and P-90s are both cool sounds that I'm glad to have available.

Sure you want to go with Sperzels on that? I used to think like that and wanted Sperzels on everything. Lately I've come to realize that they aren't really necessary on fixed bridge guitars with a decent nut. They absolutely make string changes faster, but the mod can't be reversed and may affect the tone and resonance of the guitar. If you need new tuners (the MIM ones are OK but not great) maybe look into a set of Gotoh Kluson replacements?

One of my favorite guitars is the Modern Player Telecaster Plus. It's got a great neck and I love the guitar.

I'll tell you one thing, the pots in these guitars are rubbish. They turn really stiff, and are as cheap as can be. The rest of the guitar is good though, even the hardware, input jack, and pickups. New pickups are optional, but the pots aren't.

Go buy some CTS pots and you'll be a lot happier.

If I see any of these necks on Ebay, I'm buying one since it's cheap and is about as good as any Fender neck I've played. It's essentially a 52 neck with modern radius and frets. I'm saving it for my next tele build.

Here's mine. It was one of the first ones to hit LA, so it's wood grain is better than the others I've seen. Mine has a nickel C5 in the chrome ring.
When I get around to it, I'll have the SS area routed to accomodate a mini hum in the neck, so it'll be splittable humbucker/mini hum.

Is that ash? Nice looking Tele.

I love minis and I also love P-90s. You guys are making some great choices.
