    Lightbulb Very Old 59's

    Hello Folks,
I have for some time now thought about your collective advice to never sell these pickups. i have been looking for just the right project guitar to purchase for them to light up. But at last, I am old enough myself to let things go where they will. I prefer for incidental reasons that my 68 Custom is restored to original. These historic relics need to be in the hands of someone who has the guitar that needs them.

Check this post for some discussion of their provenance: http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/s...d.php?t=238153

You can see from the pix that they were wound by Seymour on PAF bobbins, still retaining all tape, etc. They have lead enough to fit a Les Paul. They have minimum wear – just some gorgeous ghosting on the bobbin tops – and are completely original to 1969 by all estimates.

I would like to offer them here on the SD Forum, but complete the deal on eBay with PayPal. If I get any offers over $750 for this rare and amazing matched set between now and July 15th, by 8pm PST, I will PM the bidder with the best offer that the set is available as a BIN and take only that buyer's bid for purchase.

These guys sound like PAF's. Don't hesitate to inquire.

    Thanks,
    Gilgamesh

Yup.... btw, didn't Seymour start winding in 1971? How are these from 69?

I can only make inferences from other comments from this forum and some facts of the guitar they sparked. Please correct the record if anyone knows. I would love to have an accurate account. I suppose the stickers would be the surest information.

    Thanks!

Does the 4th picture go with this set of pickups? Because it shows the pickups having covers.

Yes. That shot is immediately after removal from the 68 Custom.

I sent a PM to those members who participated in the original post or scoped my profile who had expressed an interest in the pickups sale, or wanted to buy them at the time.

I am sorry to have offended, and it won't happen again.

The '59's are lower left with mounting rings still attached. The T-Tops are to the lower right.

Cool pups either way.... I wouldn't mind having them.
