HSS Strat pickup replacement

Hi,

I'm having trouble deciding on pickups for my HSS Strat, I don't really want to change the pots so I'm stuck with 250k, I was thinking either an SH-5 or Dimarzio SD, and SSL-5s for the middle & neck. I play mainly metal so having the Strat tone isn't really important, however if possible I would like to retain at least some Strat character, that's why I want singles instead of rails.

Any help would be great, cheers.

for metal tone you will need alnico 5 magnet pickups or ceramic (stronger). they will produce a fat tone for metal. check out the tone charts.
