Post User Group Pickup Specs Poll #1

    OK All,

To do this we need to decide on a few things. We'll start with basic types and get more specific as we go. Let's not get hung up on specifics at this time.

I purposely left our the oddball stuff like Jazzmaster, Jaguar etc. as I figured the more traditional styles will work out for more people.

    Can an admin Sticky this?

Blade pups like CJ Pierce Custom set:

    http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/s...d.php?t=233451

Imagine if you will combining the 59 blade and custom blade into a blade hybrid.

I also like the mini hums in Firebirds, but no such pickup exist if you want it in a HB size (like what cat Phat cat does for p90).

There's also El Diablo that I like very much, but a little too hot for my taste, which is also similar in design to the firebird mini hums.

I'd also be interested in vintage spec'd toaster pickups like in Rickenbacker made to fit in a HB guitar.

I may as well declare my interest in this one. I've voted for the single sized blade type. I'm wondering whether it would be possible to do something that looks like it's an active pup, but is actually a fully enclosed passive. Think what Dave Gilmour might have used had he not picked those EMG's...

That's what the hotrails is - at least I hope it is, given that I voted for it.

No blade HB option, just HB option I guess. May be there should be a poll on poll option.

Maybe pinto79 or an admin can modify the poll to get the HB blade type added.

I'm all for a cool strat type pickup - maybe a blade type with a sound that's as close to single coils as possible, a la Fralin.

I think a single coil of some type is deserved. Seymour Duncan offers so many types of humbuckers compared to the single coil lineup.

Like I said, I also like the idea of toaster pickups made for HB guitar. Can't remember those being abundant.

    And it's already started lol....

The first poll is to decide on the basic style of the pickup. You can vote on the pole piece type in another vote. For now, just vote on whether you want a bucker, single sized bucker, single coil, P90, etc...

FWIW, that last forum run pickup we decided specs on was a single coil. I believe it was called the Stratabro or something like that.

I like the idea of a moderate output blade humbucker.
Also really would like a super beefy p90 with alnico.

    .
In that case, HB got my vote! But I recommended the HB only as a starting platform since so many guitars could benefit from it, and then this could be taken to any direction, blade, toaster, filtertron, single coil, or otherwise. I wasn't a member during last time, so this should be exciting.

Son Of StratBro90, in a calibrated set of three, with a selection of user-interchangable bar magnets.

    StraBro90.
Basically a hot coil-tapped single with 3 slugs and 3 screws.

    Or to quote Evan:
Here's what you're getting: a Custom Shop tapped single coil that uses polished Strat magnets on three strings along with a bar magnet and screw pole pieces on the other three strings. In order to get the right height profile, the bobbin is hand fabricated from two cut down humbucker bobbins. The bottom plate is from the Parallel Axis Stack.

In full output mode, it sounds like a P-90. In tapped mode, it sounds like a Strat.

Thanks for clearing that up Mojo. I knew it was something like that, but I couldn't get the search function to work, so I put up there what I knew/remembered.
