Question Pearly Gates Plus in a Sheraton II?

Hi, I'm thinking about buying this Pearly Gates (which appears to be a Pearly Gates Plus?): http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/msg/3049057073.html

    1. How will it sound in a Epiphone Sheraton II? Going for classic rock, blues, rock sound.
    2. Will it fit? (he listed the dimensions but I can't seem to find my ruler!)
    3. How will it pair with a Jazz in the neck?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.

The PG+ should come over as slightly less powerful than a Brobucker. I used to have one in my Epi BB King Lucille. It rocked without ever straying out of ES Thinline territory.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, my first PU installation will be on a semi-hollow. Any tips/youtube tutorials/wiring diagrams before I jump head-first into it?

Also, I've done a little bit of searching on this forum and found the following pre-wired kits. I guess it would be best to do all of the electronics at once? Does anybody have experience with this? I've heard the Sheraton's might have f-holes that are too small to fit parts through.

You should be able to fit all the parts through the f-holes. I have done it on mine. It is a pain in the arse but be patient! What part of Dallas are you from?

Search here on the topic. Plenty of advice.

I'll say in general: Plenty of string and patience

I usually tie string to each pot to avoid losing it and trying to fish it out.

Any advice on these carriages? I suppose wiring it myself can't be THAT hard. Most importantly, should I get short shafts on the pots? I'm definitely clueless when it comes to that. Thanks.

I don't have experience with those harnesses but have heard good things about RS Guitarworks. I have a Tundratone harness in my LP that is spectacular.

You definitely want short shaft pots for your Sheraton

Doh! My Jazz and PGP have different pole spacings than the stock gold pickup covers. Does anybody have a pair of covers? Stewmac has some for $19 each, yikes!

This cover will perfectlly fit the Duncan Jazz p'up and won't kill the tone for $ 12.00:

Your Epi covers are Tone ASSASINS. The only use for those p'ups is paperweight. I kid you not.

What's the polepiece spread on th PG+?

    I believe it's the 1 15/16 measurement.

Thanks, I'll check out the link.

Don't forget GOOD golden polepiece screws. The Epi ones sound so dull it's not even funny.

These are excellent sounding. I have'em in my #1 guitar, which have golden hardware.

Just played my Pearly Gates Plus in my 2001 American Series Double Fat Strat yesterday. Couldn't help but think was a great blues/classic rock humbucker it really is. A tad bright, perhaps, but that's what tone knobs are for.

    Enjoy.
