Yes, great idea, a humbucker pickup that is intended to be used either as a neck pu in a 24-fretted guitar with a high-output bridge OR as a medium output bridge with a medium-to-low output neck.
However I do fear that if we were to make a jack-of-all-trades then it wouldn't really excel in any one role...

They're not mutually exclusive.

Of course both can work, but EQ-ing a pickup that's intended for both slots is trickier and needs a more middle-of-the-road approach due to the different harmonics and the inherent difference in frequency balance.
That said, I am not the expert MJ and Seymour are so if they think they can make it work then I only say, where do I pay?![]()

I originally said I wanted a vintage sounding P90 in humbucker size, but what I really want is something in the neck that's chimey w/spank on clean & nasty raunchy (but able to remain defined) with distortion. If that can be done w/2-coils (as someone mentioned w/a Filtertron-like p'up?) then I'd be all over that! Hum-free would just be a bonus.

Actually, using two set of screws, you can make a neck p'up with serious coil mismatch, so the stronger coil could be used toward the neck to palliate the 24-fretter effect or toward the bridge in a 22-fretter. And you can try both positions by yourself without the need of solder/desolder and even fine-tune the mismatch raising and/or lowering the screws!
This could certainly work wonders, if you ask me.

Yes, double screw please.

A double screw neck 'bucker sounds good to me, and has many possibilities. I am thinking a Burstbucker style pickup might be nice. One coil about 6K, the other about 3K? And some sort of less common magnet. A3 or A4, for instance. Having it available in black/parchment zebra (not black/cream) would be great as well! Open trim rings, like so?

I think a 14k to 16k screamin demon with either double screws, blades, or axis poles and an A2 or A4 mag would really cool.

I wanted a tele single coil but now that we are going to the Humbucker I voted for the dual coil . Lets see how we can go from there

Are there enough people wanting this to even get the discount?

Depends completely on what we choose to do, another phat staple or something like that doesn't interest me much.
Still hoping for some kind of hb blade pup, maybe with a less common magnet like a8, a4, or a3...
Not if the blade is the magnet.
Or (alternatively, or combined) if you don't want it wound to be hot.
Neck blade pup with a4 at about 8K, maybe? *shrugs*
how does this work? you get enough people interested and they do a custom run of our choosing at a discount?
how many people/orders does it take?
what's the pricebreak?
