This is the one that's getting more playing time than any others at the minute. It's a Fender MIM Standard. The bridge pickup is a Klein Tri-State, which is just totally ****ing amazing. It just sounds exactly like that classic Tele tone that I had in my head. Well...actually, it sounds like three classic Tele tones that I had in my head.

Apart from CTS pots, everything else is stock. I'll probably be putting the StagMag from my other Tele and a Triple Shot into the neck of this one pretty soon. I'm also considering changing the bridge to a Wilkinson model with compensated brass saddles, but I don't really feel any pressing need to do it anytime soon.

Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

    My three #1's:

Since this picture was taken, the mutt has been equipped with a LP style toggle switch. Much easier to use. The Strat is in transition at the moment - I bought a Bladerunner bridge for it, I've got a set of Fralin SP-42's coming in this week that I'm going to toss in her, and she's due for a fret crowing and a new nut. After that, I fully expect her to match the mutt in terms of sound and playability.

Just sharing, my repulsive blonde Kramer (with the vomit-inducing abalone binding) is undergoing repainting right now (Kawasaki Ninja style lime metallic green). I will post the result later if you care to see it.

It's my 2009 Carvin ST. It's all maple and is loaded with DiMarzio pups.

I got rid of the Carvin active electronics module and replaced them with all MIJ parts. Only my 5-way rotary switch is not MIJ; to be honest I have no idea where it was made. But it works great! I went with the 5-way for more connection options; I have the pups connected in parallel in positions 2 and 4 but I will change it to series in 2 and 4. I already have the wiring layout done in paper so now I just gotta get out the good old multimeter and double check my wiring. Obviously, I placed my 5-way rotary switch where the original 3-way toggle switch was located; if you look closely you can see the little dimple the selector knob has as a position key. It really helps!

The pickup rings were custom made by Dave at fretsonthenet. Carvin uses rather unorthodox dimensions when it comes to its designs so to keep everything as close as possible to the original I had the rings custom built to fit the guitar perfectly. The bridge pup is just for a DiMarzio humbucker while the neck ring holds two DiMarzio single-coil pickups and that is how I managed to squeeze in the three pickups in the guitar. I gotta tell you this is my most versatile axe yet; I love the 5 distinct sounds it offers. The Virtual pups are just awesome by themselves while the PAF is really loud by itself. I wired the guitar with just one volume and one tone; I have the other two knobs as well as the three mini-switches connected to ground for the time being; in the future I'll wire a mini-switch to have the PAF in series or in parallel.
Mesmerizing. It is not common to see pale blue in transparent. I didn't realize it had 3 pickup until I read your description. Very unique. How does the position of the middle pickup now that is closer to the fretboard affect the tone?

Here are some more pics of it in the sun; I took these pics back in August 2011. These pics really show the beauty of maple grain:

I had the Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues II at the bridge of my DC135 with the Virtual Solo slammed as low as it could go at the middle with an HS-2 at the neck; the VVHBII sounded ok while the VS sounded stronger and more full. The VVHBII sounds really, really articulate in its current position while the VS sounds even more loud and more full at the neck. My best interpretation of the VVHBII is a beefy single-coil with no hum of course. The two combined in series present an awesome combination that fully complements the PAF at the bridge.

I think even more of a difference I noticed is just how much more transparent and sensitive the VVHBII has become since moving it closer to the neck. At the bridge it sounded as if it was struggling to get heard and noticed amongst the other pickups while in the middle is seems to be in a much more natural position per say. It still is the least loudest of the three but it is also the most single-coil like so it has its place. I highly recommend the VVHBII as well as the VS.

Play it like you mean it!

Here is my #1. USACG chambered mahogany body, USAGC rosewood neck...soft V profile, 12" radius, 6105 frets. Dimarzio tuners from the 80's. Zhangliqun PureHandwound bucker in the neck. A5 mag, 7.5K. Dimarzio Tone Zone T in the bridge. Graph Tech 'Tusc IOS' saddles. Tru Oil finish on body and neck. From the moment I first strung it up around 10 years ago, it's been my #1. Exceptional playability and the tone it produces fits my playing style...well...to a T!

Took a while for me to answer in this thread, because it always keeps changing and I always gig with 3 guitars (LP, ES, Strat). And that's just electric guitars. But after giving it some thought, I think if I could just pick one, it would be my ES339. I think that's my #1. '57 pickups, perfect neck profile, super light, Memphis Tone circut, and one of the nicest guitars to come out of the CS that I've played. I really dig her.

With that said, she's not exactly a case queen. We've been on some adventures her and I. Here she is, when I took the pickguard off for some reason, at a show after party earlier this year.

I also use her for most television spots ; she loves the camera, even for daytime TV.

I think we have a good thing going on.

    Good eye.

That photo was actually taken before I installed the Klein. Right now the mini-switch for the bridge taps is between the volume and tone pots. I was going to take a new picture of her for this thread but, apart from that one little addition, it looks exactly the same now as it did then.
