    Default Good Road Trip Music?

What kind of music do you like for roadtrips? For me, I've found that sometimes, clear simpler sound is best. I'm probably not describing that well, but there's some highway noise that you don't see in movies about roadtrips that can interfere with songs.

I associate Cake with trips to Yosemite:

English Beat from weekend roadtrips when I was in the army:

    Same with Violent Femmes:

    Sometimes I go further back:

    Good bass lines help:

Ok Go Usually does well, too:

Of course, the danger with listening to music on road trips is that you'll be sick of the songs by the time the trip is over.

    Depends on the trip.

For plain driving, could be anything. The iPhone REALLY helps with this! Don't need 100 cds. Just take some choice playlists!!!!

I used to have a "need to get there right now" mix - I can't Drive 55, Born to be wild, Radar Love, etc

    Need to recreate that one...

It depends on who else is traveling with me--I normally play a bunch of Rush or
Led Zeppelin, although the Rolling Stones seems to be the one band that almost
    everyone can agree on.

As far as I'm concerned, CCR is the best road trip music possible.

or just load them on the radios HD and hit random. That's what I do. If something comes up that doesn't grab you, just hit next.
Even with the 40GB hard drive in the radio (not all of which is usable) that's 200 hours of music.
Sometimes I will pick a song I want to start with and let it do random from there.

Meh, Styx, Bad Company, etc. they're all okay, but Doobie Brothers are really great road music! Got to get me some of their cds.

I'll have to look up Edgar Winter Group and Grand Funk, all I know of them is "American Band."

I really like to listen to Depeche Mode's Violator and Isis' Oceanic and Panopticon when driving long trips.

I used to drive all over the country for work, music is a must, and a decent stereo. I used to hate it when I'd have a rider because I couldn't kick up the jams as much. No one else likes to listen to Nostromo on 20 like I do.
