D@mn, right about now I feel so unlucky to be living in the other side of the Atlantic, by the time these get here I will have already paid enough to buy a complete guitar, shipping to here is a b***h...

I'm sad because none of their offerings catch my eyes.

I am excited. Hopefully will be starting a little project guitar in the near future.

So tell me, guitar experts - if I buy a bolt-on body and a bolt-on neck with matching scale length, then is it a pretty easy assembly? I assume some drilling and bolts and that's it. Is there more to the process that I should know about before pulling the trigger?

Shipping will probably prove to be prohibitive, but one of those double cut bodies is tempting. Converting it to lefty would be a lot of work, but it could be a fun project.
Every love that made me lose my reasoning. Every chord that made my conscience ache. Every day spent counting hours. Well, none of them comes close to singing back a song inside my head.

    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

It is really easy if the two fit one another... but if the neck heel and the neck pocket are not the same size it can be a little bit of a challenge.

Final question before I pull the trigger... the B-Stock bodies don't list a scale length. Will any scale length neck fit the body, or will I need to purchase the body first to figure out what kind of neck I need? The two I'm looking at are 'strat style' - so I assume they would fit.

the first batch that they put up did include the scale length. with the second batch, they no longer included the scale length. that's when i decided not to buy any of that stuff. i guess there were inaccuracies and inconsistencies. i don't know. i just took it as You Takes Your Chances. or As/Is. no thanks. i'll need more info than that.

Easy to convert to lefty... Just mount everything on the back!

So, I spotted a body I liked, and after some research to see what kind of neck I needed I made the purchase. I paid a little over $80, including shipping, for the body and the neck.

The body I believe is mahogany, with a maple (?) top - HSS & 'fender' tremolo routed. The neck is a 24 fret, maple with rosewood fingerboard. Both 25.5". The neck required a bit of sanding to fit into the pocket, and may require a little further sanding on the bottom as the fretboard sits pretty high off the horizontal plane of the guitar top.

The neck is in near perfect condition, while the body has two or three pretty big dings, none of which have scratched through the top. The condition of both pieces was as advertised. I am very satisfied with my parts.

I have ordered some tuners and a hardtail bridge (already have a couple of trems). I have an old POS epiphone pickup I will be installing temporarily just to get a feel for it, but my plan is to get a high output humbucker and make this my 'metal' guitar. I have currently put $130 into this, and I suspect that some used pickups and scrounged electronics later I will have myself a perfectly decent, custom guitar for about $250. Not bad.

This will be my first guitar build, though I feel I am pretty competent with tools and guitar knowledge that I don't foresee any difficulties.

If this was your baby and you wanted to metalize it, what kind of pickups would YOU be looking at putting in there?

And, finally - what have I bought? Anyone have any idea what this guitar was meant to be when completed?

    Thanks!

    Mika.

Dude nice! I'm stoked to see one of these put together!

If I were to put some pups in it I'd go

    Tone Zone (b)

    Area '67 (m)

    Area '61 (n)

In yellow of course. Oh yeah.

Oh and I think it was probably an Aria of some sort. At least the neck anyways.

But do make a thread when you get her rockin'! I'd love to see it!
