Gibson Les Paul vs 70's Tribute

Long & McQuade sells the Faded Les Paul Studios for 885$ and the 70' Tribute Les Paul Studios for 850$.

While the regular les paul has humbuckers, the 70's have the mini humbuckers. Has anyone tried both and could tell me the difference ? Does the fact that the 70's studios having mini humbuckers give them less output or less crunch ?

Generally speaking, mini humbuckers have a cleaner tone.

That's good news :P how about the gain-y sounds ? which ones better for metal ?

Typical minis are quite low output....especially ones that were in original Norlin LP's.
The ones on the tribute LP's are hotter, and more resemble firebird pickups (apparently a dual blade design under the cover)

This may well 'work' in a metal situation, but you'll have to have a gain laden amp or pedal to get the chunk from them. They will likely be quite defined on the upside.
