Default I have another build idea...

I've been contemplating another parts build, here's what I'm thinking. It's tele-meets-LP Special with a mahogany telecaster body, P90s, and some sort of hardtail bridge. I could do tele or LP style controls, but I must say the mockup with LP controls looks pretty nice.

I would love to get a duplicate of the solid rosewood neck I have on my current tele, but I might just go maple/rosewood. Mahogany/rosewood is another option, but mahogany would probably need more finish work. If I went maple I would just do a tru oil finish and call it good.

I see that ReRanch has Gibson's Pelham Blue color in their nitro options, so I'd probably finish it myself in that and toss one of Warmoth's cool tele hybrid pickguards on it.

So, thoughts? What type of bridge do you think would be cool on this guy?

That looks pretty cool! I like the tele control layout personally. As for bridge, my vote goes to the tele cut off bridge like you have on those mock ups.

Half tele bridge, or a vintage strat hardtail.

If you go TOM, then you need to take into acount neck and headstock angles.

All the mockups look great, IMO.
I'm an internet person. All we do is waste time evaluating things that have next-to-zero real world significance.

I love the Rutters bridge on my current tele, and they make a cutoff bridge. I just have to decide if I want a three-barrel bridge tele bridge or a basic six-saddle flat mount.

Take the third one, ditch the pickgaurd, and use a strat headstock.

i like your first mockup best, followed closely by the last one. if it were me, i'd go with six saddles just to make intonation easier. i also think a bigsby would be cool, but i might not be thinking entirely clearly because i've been watching dystrust play his tele with the bigsby for like three weeks now.

If you're interested in a Tele vibramate, I'll have one for sale shortly. Of those mockups, I like the Tele control layout with the black guard.

A Bigsby would be wasted on me as I never actually use a vibrato, I just think the hardware looks cool on some guitars . The only things I've really "decided" on are the mahogany tele body, P90s, and finish. The rest is up in the air with lots of cool options out there.

The fourth one looks killer, a black bridge cover would finnish it off nicely

I built one just like you're describing for a friend: mahogany body, dual P90s, maple/rosewood neck. I wired it master volume, master tone, and four way Tele mod: bridge solo/both in parallel/neck solo/ both in series.

I don't know how much he uses that last one, but he loves the guitar.

I told him if he ever wanted to sell it, he should call me first. George don't call much...

I'm building a different, but similar setup
for myself now. Somehow, I screwed up the routing on a light swamp ash blank for a standard Tele, so I'm going to turn it into a dual P90 with a Squier Custom II pick guard.

For the finish on George's mahogany, I used tung oil semi gloss. For mine, I'll probably do a few thin coats of tinted wipe on poly, keeping it nice and thin.

I actually like that a lot.
I get weak in the knees at the sight of a vintage Fender amp!
