    Default Tarnished legacy comes down...

    http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/22/us/pen...html?hpt=hp_t1

The statue of the late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been removed from outside the campus' stadium, CNN affiliate WTAJ said.

The 900-pound bronze statue is being stored in a "secure location," according to a statement from Penn State President Rodney Erickson. The tribute to Paterno had become an object of contention after the child rape scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
"Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished." Isaiah 13:16

"Kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." Numbers 31:17-18

I saw the film - it was pretty fenced/draped off.

I still have not read the report. Can't disagree with it at the moment.

WE LOVE YOU JOE! ONE DAY YOUR STATUE WILL BE BACK UP!!
The Hysteria , fear and ignorance surronding the scandal at Penn has caused shame and embarresment to your honor and destiny, but in the end, you will always be a great man and history will finally observe you as such, and long after we are gone, your statue will have risen again , like a Phoenix from the ashes, and you shall take your rightful place among the all time winning Coaches and leaders!

I'm quite saddened by all this and glad that joe pa is not around to see it. But, maybe he might have the chance to defend himself. I have no idea what happened, I've not read the report, but I gotta say, Joe Pa was one my heroes growing up. Just a handful of coaches that I always wanted to play for. Tom Landry another. Legends that always seemed to do the right thing and run good clean programs (in the college cases). I am quite saddened to see this turn. Very sad if it's true that he turned a blind eye to molestation. There's no shred of admiration left in me if that's the case. Just no excuse in the universe for that.

Good it needs to come down. His legacy is permanently tarnished by this scandal and no amount of time will ever erase that.

60 million dollar NCAA fine and wins vacated from 1998-2011 is gonna hurt. How do you vacate wins?

Does that change everyone who played PS's win lose record?

No which is weird. As I understand it, it basically means if Paterno's record was (I'm just grabbing numbers for argument's sake) was 200-50, it now will be 140-50. Their opponents records remain unchanged. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are not wrong. The teams who lost to Penn state will still have those losses on their records.

I'm good with what the NCAA has handed down. However, the vacating of wins is just ridiculous, IMO, and does not serve any merit or benefit to the case. Sure, "on paper", it means Joe Pa won't be the winningest college football coach but in reality, they still won those games. Change it on paper all you want, it doesn't change what happened on the field. That's all I have to say about it.

I think the punishment is weak, pathetic, unfair, and tragic.

All that did was demonstrate what a bunch of hypocritical b!tches the NCAA are...
