I like it with the bar towards the neck. I think that should be the hotter coil

I have a PATB-1n and a spare Trembucker cover. I'll try it out later to see if it fits, if anyone's still interested.

I have put a cover once on the PATB 2. tight fit.

ps: I love the looks of the patb/rail pickup. I think I would want one that's like the 59/jazz, so it can rock in the bridge too with an alnico8.

Gotta admit, she's not as ugly as I expected.

Still wish a cover would fit.
But, One thing about covers, I saw a post by Tim the owner of Bare Knuckle pickups on their forum in regards to the new Blackhawk blade style pickups where he stated that a cover "negates the benefits of the blades". He didn't go into detail and I'd imagine he was talking about a metal cover.

It definitely looks cool, but I've never been one to choose a pickup based on looks.

I really like the dual rail with the Axis...make the Axis a stack and we'd have many tone options...

I thought the dimebucker/PA looked "best" of them all.

I like how this forum is as conflicted about Medium vs Medium Rare as I was.

If in the end the two end up basically the same, give or take a couple of votes then this means that the forum decided that what they want is something in between, or, something that can do both equally well.

That also answers some further questions it would seem...

The pictures are cool and all, but lets try and get back to the tone of the discussion.

Maybe Pinto will go ahead and start the next poll since we have mock ups now. I would still maybe get with MJ and see if we can actually use a Dimebucker type coil with the thin steel blade for this. I'm pretty sure the coils are shorter width wise than a standard humbucker coil and I'm absolutely positive they are mounted differently.

I don't have crap to do tomorrow. If need be, I can try and get in touch with the MJ on the phone and see if it's doable. If it's not doable, or is something that's going to take a lot of work and drive the price, then there's not really much sense in having that option on the poll. I know all you magnet swappers out there want to avoid the magnet as a blade option and the Prail idea was shot down real fast because mag swaps are a pain or impossible. I don't know what else to say. If can be done easily, then awesome. If not, then I guess not.

EDIT: I try to get everyone back to discussing tone and 2 paragraphs later I'm still talking about construction ideas. I'm not having a good day here, you'll have to excuse me a bit.

Brent, if you are able to call and talk to MJ, maybe you could find out what is actually doable on their end. Maybe she could post in this thread, or if not, would you post any info that you get?

    Absolutely interested!

I'd likely want to put an open trim ring on mine, not a full cover.

The thin single rail is what I had in mind from the moment PA/blade won the vote. Thanks for the visual aid!

However, I'd really like each coil to have its own magnet. That is the most important thing to me. I want two true single coils next to each other, like a Stag Mag. It would be more like choosing between two single coil tones for the neck position than it would be like having a humbucker in the neck position...and I think that is a very good thing.

I think the name should be something that pokes fun at its look while also giving you an idea of how it would sound.
