Its been inspected by the somewhat "legendary" "Rosemary" of early Marshall QC fame)..and I have to do some research, but it looks as if Father Marshall himself may have signed the tag..
I see an inconsistancy..the chassis screws look to have been on an off a lot. That is troubling . maybe they wrere changed out for a different amps screws..
Everyone seems to sweat out whether their Superleads have original 'Dagnal' Transformers.
I did my homework. The earliest late 60's mARSHALL Daganl transformers had some CLOTH colored mains wires in wiht the plastic colored wires , but the later early 70's were all plastic colored wire like mine.
Plus, Ive never really seen "Fake " Dagnalls fronm that time period, except one guy said they did have a cheap replacements for Dagnals that looked the same at the time.
The time frame of my era dagnalls had no markings, but had a sticker that often fell off..you can see wherer a sticker used once to be on my Power transformer.
Looks liek I have the Drake Choke, which is common on even Dagnall transformer amps from what I have been able to ascertain.
FYI, Marhsall 50 Watt amps had and kept Drake Transformers, and the 100 watt earkly 70's on amps used the Dagnalls, although there are some few that use either/or.
So , TGWIF..do I have your blessing??

I guess no news is good news! Longshot that its Dr. Marshalls sig. on tag.
I can just bet TGWIF would be all over this by now if there was anything wrong, so i guess he checked it out, couldnt find anything bad, and went to sleep instead of congratulating me ....

What is your concern about the screws.?
Is it just the thought that somebody(s) have been in the amp A LOT more than its chassis condition implies.?
Could be a lot of reasons.....biasing, cap job, noise issues, etc. etc.
My 71 looks almost like yours. My first stage .68 was bad, along with the first cap in the tone stack, and the PI coupling caps were bad of course.
I used ARS when I did the caps job a few years ago.
My plate voltage is right around 505.
I have:
JJ E34L
Tung-Sol ri AX7
China AX7 in V2
Generally speaking.....you seem to have a pretty clean/decent example of a Super Lead.
Marshall and their crappy Z selector...

Thanks. Thats some good news! I'm actually not totally sure about this, but I have a good feeling about it...that its original I mean.
Yeah, the screws were/are a concern, but like i saod, I'd bet they were swapped out ..its not real common for such a nice amp to have messed up screws like that..usually they are on a much more beat up amp.
My main concern was of the originality of the Dagnals, and the more I know, the better its looking. Would still like conclusive evidence though.

Maybe it has been gigged a lot and tubes/biasing has been done a lot due to wear and tear.

Good point. You would assume an amp thats been gigged a lot would be more beat up, and would have
to have had more invasive work done on it , but I suppose its not a given.
You could say its been gigged a fair amount over the years I guess, becasue it does have some obvious cosmetic wear, and for instance, I had to just dowel the back cover screwholes, but when it happened over the last 40 years is a mystery. Maybe it was all fairly recent, and the amp had been pretty much mint for the most part over its life..who knows?
Ive seen 10 year old amps way more worn than this, so in that respect, I can't complain.
BTW..this info. is GOOD for the internet. When I was desperate for information prior to buying (trading for) the amp, I could barely find anything.
A few good threads covered my a$$, and whoever took the time to post them for posterity, I owe a great deal of gratitude to.

The most important part here with respect to things being changed or not is whether it sounds good.
It all looks to be the regular stuff from that era and has already been said biasing and general maintenance could make the screws like that.
And again the most important thing is if it sounds good then it is good.

I think Alex, Tony and SD97 hit it.
The screws being worn/replaced are probably from regular maintenance, and just rock out on it, man. It looks great. I love seeing stuff like this. Kinda reminds me of all those cool "barn-finds" when talking about old hot-rods.you open it up and find all of that cool history.

Solid looking old amp, some replaced parts but looks like mostly for maintenance.
Best thing about that amp is that it has no extra holes drilled in it.
A little up keep here and there and it'll last several more decades.

That's pretty...even with the rust!
I'm not sure how they milk 100w out of only 4 EL-34's though. Nominally I think they run around 20 per, so 25 seems to be pushing it, but I'm not an engineer either. -Rod-

I've always wanted a pair of Marshall Super Lead stacks. Mainly because that's what Randy Rhoads used. I've come 2 conclusions that always stopped me from pursuing them. I've already got hearing problems and those would most def finish the job and I'll never be able to play like Rhoads did. That's a whole lot of money, room, and the possibility of going deaf. Maybe if I get rich someday and have nothing better to spend money on.
Don't take that wrong way man. I'm happy you finally got one of your dream amps! Just be careful with your ears man. Once they go, you aint getting them back.
