    Default Magnet swapping heaven.

Well I just order some more but here's what I got some far.

    ON order
    A2 polished
    A5 unpolished/roughcast

    Got
    A5 unoriented
    A8
    A4 polished

    Tried
JB SH4 UNA5 - pretty good but liked regular better. To choppy but does have a great tone. There is more space in the tone then the regular and less harsh.

JB TB4 A4 - wow pretty nice tone and harmonics less output. Takes away the harshness and darkness of the tone. Not as choppy. I'll be trying this in the SH4 later. (sh4 & tb4 are not the same wind)

C8 - not for me like the C5 better. A8 magnet are to much for me and they kill that smoky-ness of the A5 tone.

59n A4 - not for me I like the tightness of the A5 better. It does bring the tone more on a level playing field though just not for me.

    Some nice surprises though.

    Peace

I'm glad you're finding what you need. For my tastes, A4 in the neck and A8 in the bridge work very well. But that's why there's a market for these things!

Your experience with the C8 mirrors my own. Just...too much. I'd like to try one in a more PAFish type like a 59. I know I'm a fan of Super 70s and they're just generic Japanese PAF clones with A8s. C5 is great, however. I have one in one of my Hamer Vectors and it's REALLY like a 59 but much louder. Dig!

i know that's a pretty heavy statement to make and a bunch of dudes that love Teles and shredsticks are gona argue with me, but they're wrong.
anything you can't do on a Les Paul is because you haven't practiced enough or you don't rock hard enough.

That's a good idea just to check out the 59b with a A8 in it.
I already tried the Alt 8 and know that the JB 8 isn't worth checking out because it's way to much. There's something about the tone that doesn't appeal to me.
I like the King's X type of tone. Heavy, grungy, bluesy. Not metal.

That's what I want to try next, though I gotta say I'm kinda digging it with the stock A5...

I recently tried a Screamin Demon with UOA5, and a 59B with UOA5 in the neck.

Demon UOA5- The UOA5 evened out the EQ a bit. Less thumping bass, a little less tight, a little boost in the mids, but not really enough. Worst aspect was the change in highs. They became brittle and thinner like the 59b. I've always liked the Demon's solid round highs. The pickup still had the "hardness" of the demon even though it was fuzzier. Installed in a very warm PRS btw. Overall, not a change for the better in my opinion.

59Bridge UOA5 in neck of PRS- Nope. bloated, muddy, indistinct. Didn't really play it long before pulling it. Thought the UOA5 might allow the use of a hotter wind in the neck slot, but nope.

The only think I HAVE liked the UOA5 magnets better in is the Custom5.

    I'm loving the JB A4.
Wow the tone and harmonics are awesome.
I think this might be the best pickup I have ever heard.
And that is after 80 pickups in the past 18 months.
Only thing is matching it with a neck pickup now.
It doesn't have the same balance as the regular JB did with the Jazz.
    Oh well the search continues.

If you like the JB4 in the bridge, my suggestion would be the 59A2 in the neck. Thats a really sweet combo that would pair nice with the jb.

Thanks it's next on my list to try.
I just did the Jazz A4 with a C5 (only have 1 A4 magnet at the moment) MAN this A4 magnet is jamming. I Didn't think I would like the A4 but everything I put it into freaking rocks hard. I thought I would be into the UNA5 and the A8 but not so.

Got some more magnets coming soon. A2, A3, A5 roughcast.
