Default Do these pickup rings exist?

    Hello,

I am looking for black, flat-bottomed, tapered pickup rings for my import Dean ML.

They are not the standard Gibson size. The Dean rings are slightly smaller.

There are Epiphone rings. But not having an Epi, I am not sure if they are the right size. And even if they are, I cannot seem to locate anyone selling a set that is both flat bottomed and tapered.

If you can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

Any flat bottom, tapered right that's metric will work...

Email anyone of the known parts dealers and tell 'em you need metric rings.

I wish I'd know there was a need for stuff like that...I tossed a bunch of junk metric parts a few months ago and I bet there were 8 or 9 rings in there!

I searched around before posting. No luck so far. My next step would be to call up Dean and ask them for parts.

P.S. The rings are about 87.5 mm in length, with the screw spacing being about 81 mm.

There can only be so many sizes...it's not like import Dean guitars have custom rings, they are all bought form the same 2 or 3 makers.

Of course. But knowing that doesn't help me figure out if the part exists in the first place. Every place I have found that carries metric humbucker rings does not have ones with this set of specs: flat bottom, tapered, and black. They have tapered curved bottomed, or non-tapered flat bottomed. Maybe I am just not searching in the right places, which is why I asked here.

Call Dean. They ought to be able to hook you up. Back when I had my green V put together, NOBODY had black V plates. Everywhere I looked: chrome or gold, yet Dean had them on their guitars. One phone call and they tossed one in a bubble mailer and sent it to me, free of charge. It's still there, to this day.

anything you can't do on a Les Paul is because you haven't practiced enough or you don't rock hard enough.

Thanks for the link, Alex. Those rings have the wrong measurements, though. And I am also highly suspicious of a seller in Hong Kong offering the rings with shipping included for only $3.

Thanks for the info...and sorry to disappoint you on the double cream thing. I am leaving the pickups, but I just have to try the black rings to see if it makes the double creams a bit smaller looking. That sea of cream looks massive on the scrawny ML body profile. Might try open pickup rings too...but cannot decide whether to go gold or nickel. Tough choice. And I am also considering custom making an Explorer style pickguard for it (which I would stick on, not screw on).

What I have now is something like this:

But I am envisioning something like this:

I think the second style is both more classy and more evil looking. Especially if I put those gold trim rings on the pickups.

I did this search awhile back, I did not ever find the flat & tapered style either. What I did find was short and tall though. I just used a piece of sandpaper on the counter and "tapered" to fit a tall ring. Was alot easier than I thought. Don't worry about the whole metric thing, thats more for different pots IMHO.
    I got mine here.
