Wow is about all I can say. I liked the Express 5:25 before, but with those improvements, I might pick the plus over a Lonestar Special. I'm gonna have to try to find one of these to play through, soon.

They seem very versatile. They look to be taking over from where the Mk series left off

Wow, they basically made a mini Mark V. That's really cool.

I know what to get now if I ever feel like down-sizing.

Get a Mini Recto and a 5:25+, plug them into a stereo cab, and you have the best of both Mesa worlds at a reasonable wattage (and price).

    Cool stuff.

Although I played a 5:25 1x10" combo one time for hours and never got one acceptable tone from it. I didn't say good - I really couldn't get a reasonably acceptable tone from it.

I knew and know and everyone tells me that you have to dial them in, but I dialed in I don't know, 100 variations, and the amp sounded like a cell phone speaker in a shoe box for all of them.

Anybody have or had a 5:25 that can help me out - and explain perhaps something I was missing?

An amp like this new 5:25 would be perfect for my needs. I just have that super awful test drive memory stuck in my head and I won't go near them now, but this new one is tempting.

When I was trying them out, I found that the 5:25 combo with the 12" speaker was WAAAAAAAAY better than the 10" combo. It was like a different amp.

The 5:25+ combo is a 12", so problem solved.

Hopefully it'll be priced in the same realm as the Mini Recto as well. I know where my tax money is going.

    +1 on the 5:25 with a 12" speaker.

When I was looking at new amps, the store staff told me that the Express with a 10" speaker was a serious waste of money. Also to push the point, they didnt have any in stock.

So I compared the Express 5:25 w/ 12" with several other amps. The the closest contender for my uses and interests was a Super Sonic 22 [which is an awesome amp].

Ended up with the Express 5:25 w12". The clean channel won me over.
I never tried an Express with a 10" spkr. Am very pleased with the 12' speaker version.

Didnt I just post something 2 days ago about how frickin cool the old DC amps were and about how the 5 band alone made them more versatile than the Fs or expresses that replaced them?

Hmm. All I can say is, bout GD time.

That's totally awesome but totally sucks because the last thing I need right now is Mesa GAS. It all depends on how friendly the prices are. That's all I have to say.

The prices won't be at all friendly.

The good news is, a bunch of people on The Fraud Page will immediately have to have one and go out and buy it, then decide a week later they don't like it, so a week or so after they come out there will be a fair amount on the used market. That will taper off fairly fast though.

To tell you the truth, one of the biggest reasons I never stuck with a 5:50 is because I didn't want to have to use an external EQ in the loop. I prefer configuring the EQ from the amp panel. Now that they have added the EQ, I can control the sound a lot more. The Express series has fantastic clean and blues sounds, and the drive channel really growls. I'm seriously gassing for one of these now.

I had a real nice cream tolex 5:50 sitting next to my Mark V for a couple of weeks and to be 100% honest, I thought the clean channel on the 5:50 sounded just a little bit sweeter. It was also easier to dial in than the Mark V. I thought it held its own quite well compare to most of the settings on the Mark V except of course the Mark IV channel which freaking kills almost everything.

I agree it is a major upgrade and will make the amp a whole lot more useful. The Solo switch is a must have for playing live to.

It's funny because now we're back to basically what the DCs were plus the solo switch. Not that I'm complaining.

    These are already out apparently.

There is a dealer on ebay who has a 5:25 plus 1x12 for $1350. I'd guess the 5:50 would be in the $1500 range.

$1350 is pretty damn good considering what you're getting.

Yeah considering Mesa build quality and the versatility involved, not to mention that it is at least assembled in the U.S., the price is pretty reasonable.
