    Exclamation Fender Champ X2??

    I am needing a low power amp for putting in a home-made iso box and miking at low volume. I figure I would run the amp clean and use my golden cello for my distortion. I just bought a Bugera V5. Not too shabby but I hear a little harshness there that I don't like. I am not trying to push it into distortion and yet there is a harshness there, even though the overall tone is warm. I need to play with it some more as I just got it home today but, I am very tempted to return it and get the Champ X2. Would the X2 work well as a low power amp to mike in a live situation? I am thinking I will like the tone Of the champ better, I just want to make sure I can get what I want at LOW volume. Plus if I wanted to mod the Bugera I don't seem to have many good choices in 8" speakers. Emeinence doesn't make anything suitable in an 8" speaker.

    The boogie I own is too loud and too bloody heavy to use for church playing. I recently got rid of my POD X3 and am wanting to go with real tubes, just at low volume. Thanks as always.

    Almost bought this amp. Looking forward to seeing what responses you get here. It amazes me how little people say about the X2, on You Tube or even on the Fender forum.

    I'm not exactly sure how they work. I know they're all tube but they have the modeling thing going on too. I work at GC and whenever I wanted to play a guitar at work it was my goto amp. Very easy to get a great sound out of, plug and play. Not sure how well it does at high volumes because of the small 10 inch speaker. I'm sure it would work great with an extension cab.
    Gear:
    Fender '03 CIJ Antigua Strat

    Partscaster blackie
    Breedlove Passport Mahogany
    VOX V845 -> MXR Blue Box -> Boss CS-3 -> MXR Phase 90 -> Paul C. Tim OD -> Fulltone Plimsoul -> Boss CE-3 -> EHX Memory Toy -> SD Deja Vu Delay >
    Marshall Artist 30 4202 or Bugera V5

    No problem with volume, I want something for low volume miking.

    Also a bit of an update. I played with the Brugera a little more and seems not be harsh sounding anymore. Perhaps the tubes needed to be broke in, thats my best guess. I am still thinking of exchanging it for the Champ X2. Fender cleans are hard to beat.

    Well, the Bugera is going back today and I am likely gonna get a Fender Blus junior. THe one with a 12" Jensen speaker.
